i bought it about 5 months ago from ebay (i know its about 3 years old)
I found that because it was second hand that the battery life was almost dead but i found a website whihc shows you how to replace the battery!

Summary: Mini only in size, DEFINATELY not in capability
Comment: Had the mini for about a week now, and I've got to say, it's by far one of the best mp3 players I've come across. The scroll wheel is a great feature, with just the slightest touch needed to scroll through songs, playlists etc.

The software provided, iTunes, is very simple to set up and use, and transferring songs is a breeze.

Extra features on the mini like the games, notes, contacts list etc are very handy, especially Music Quiz, one of the four games.

One problem I've come across is charging the mini. I turn it off, connect the charger into the port on the bottom, then as it starts to charges, it seems unsure whethers it's on or not. The apple logo is present, like when it powers up, but then it takes awhile before displaying the main screen. This obviously slows down charging time dramatically when it is on the whole time, so make sure it is switched off fully before leaving it to charge.

Otherwise, the iPod mini is great product and I would definately encourage anyone interested to buy one

Summary: The best, most wonderful MP3 player in the world
Comment: Generally, Apple products cost a little more than most other computer products, but this is all due to quality. The iPod is definitely the best MP3 player on today's market, and one of the best things is that you can have it in many different designs which you don't often find in others. The iPod mini can hold around 1000 songs which is really more than anyone could ever need unless they are a music finatic, in which case you can buy the regular iPod which can hold much more. Also, the good thing about any iPod is that it holds so many songs, unlike most other competitors which hold usually a quater, maybe half as much as the iPod. Ultimately, the iPod mini is ideal for just about everyone who needs their music on the go as it is pocket sized and the software that comes with it is the most simple program ever to organize, transfer, download and play music. I would most definitely recommend this product to all those who want something listen to music from and just about every person who has one would tell you just the same.

Summary: Excellent - but headphones let it down
Comment: REALLY pleased with this, although I admit it took me a while to work how to use the "intuitive" click-wheel. I must be a bit thick. Once I figured that out though, it's just brilliant ! The iPod mini is even smaller than I was expecting - it's so tiny ! Sound quality is good (with MP3 at 128k), but improved noticably by substituting the tacky white "Please mug me, I have an iPod in my pocket" earphones with a pair of Sonys I had left over from a 35 quid walkman bought about 10 years ago. In my opinion, this is either a case of form coming before function, or Apple are serioulsy short-changing buyers with these poor quality 'phones on a product costing not far short of 200 hundred pounds ! But let's be fair, 'phones aside, this is an astounding product and I would recommend it to anyone who can "make do" with 4GB of space (I managed to get about 1000 MP3s on there at 128k).

Summary: Both good and bad...
Comment: Excellent software for ripping and importing / exporting your tracks. Well made player but the storage capacity is too small. Battery life is quite poor. MUCH better value is the Creative Zen Touch. iPod is very popular but it's more a branded fashion item than a great player. Over-rated to the extreme.
