Summary: Oh what a shame!!!
Comment: I was given this as a gift as I have always wanted one but could not convince myself to spend the kind of money it was priced at. That was a couple of years ago now and it has come out to play no more than twice. what a disappointment. As previous reviews state, the roboraptor does not run, but wobbles, and even if it does get a purchase it doesnt seem to move that far. The instructions were not really any help and I have only seemed to get it to work in demo mode most of the time. My daughter played with it for an hour and then got fedup. she complained that it didnt seem to follow the light from the handset as it states it should. The only good bits are the sensors in the mouth, chin and tail. It also has great sound effects and it is quite comical when it tries to bite the dog!! But you soon get bored of the repeativeness. when this was purchased it was just shy of £100 so now the price has dropped I suppose its not such a frivalous purchase. Value for money?...I dont think so. At the end of the day the choice is yours.

Summary: roboraptor
Comment: I think the problem some of your reviewer are forgetting is this is a childs toy, not a grown-up play thing. My 9 year old has really loved it and has had hours of fun cornering the cat! You need to step back and look at it for what it is, a childs toy, and a really fantastic one at that.

Summary: TOTALLY AWESOME!
Comment: You lot have absoloutly no imagination. Some of the people who have said "My kids got bored of it really quickly" Yeah well thats coz they're boring kids then. My son never stops playing with it! He plays with it before school, after school, weekend, whenever he can! (He treats Roboreptile as the mortal enemy) But really people take some credit for this amazing robot. It's an incredible toy! Best robot toy out there if you ask me. A must have for dino fans or robot fans.

Summary: Has no one ever seen Godzilla?!
Comment: The reviewers here are totally wrong; so says my 9 year old son who got a roboraptor yesterday. He has played with it ever since, and as for not encouraging imaginative play it is currently standing on top of a garage having eaten a polly pocket doll and a car! My son wants to make a Godzilla movie with Roboraptor as the star. I think this toy is only limited by your imagination!

The raptor does move better on carpet rather than wooden floor, and can be fussy about carpet which is to thick. It also needs very good batteries as another reviewer has said already.

As for not doing what was expected, I think it does everything we expected and we have got it to hold things in it's mouth. It has walked around the room and detected obstacles quite well.

My son described this as his dream present.

Summary: Waste of money !!
Comment: Dont buy this !! After great advertisement my son longed for one of these so I paid £90 for it but it is worth between £5 and £10 in my estimation...if that. It did move and sniffed and roared but didn't bite anything in the right direction, then fell over. After all the build up and expectations it was switched off after five minutes. What a shame and a waste of money...fortunetly I'd bought him loads of cool things to play with for christmas. With 3 kids this has been the most expensive and biggest rip off toy I have bought!!

Editorial Reviews:

Dynamic robot with attitude. Roboraptor has real walking and running action with realistic neck and tail movements. His advanced personality has 3 distinct moods, hunting, cautious and playful. His twin touch sensors and IR vision for obstacle avoidance ensure he reacts to his environment. Multiple sensors for interactive play make him a very complex creature, but be warned, touch an angry Roboraptor and he will turn around and try to bite you! Requires 6 x AA batteries and 3 x AAA batteries (not included). 8 Years +
