Summary: Starts bad, turns out great!
Comment: Netgears own software causes the fabled BSOD if you use it. If you buy this product search the NetGear forum for links to a 3rd party driver.
Once thats installed the card is brilliant, i've had no issues with the card (a world apart from the trouble caused by the wireless router i bought).

I gave it 3 stars, but some less experienced computer users may want to find something a touch more "out of the box an go".

Summary: Great kit
Comment: Purchased this with a new Netgear router/firewall (DG834pn) as an upgrade to an old x.11b access point. Very good range and speed up to the full 108Mb/sec over the entire flat and beyond. Dead easy to set up with XP, simply install drivers then the card, run the wizard and it's up in under 5 mins. The only caution is that with the extended range reaching well out side most properties activating the WEP or WEP-PSK security encryption is a MUST.

Summary: Fantastic Reception
Comment: This adapter works very well.

I bought this to try out Netgear's so called MIMO technology.

It can detect many APs and I saw more APs in my neighbourhood than my built in Intel 2915 card.

So far, no connections have dropped and I am very happy with its performance.

Editorial Reviews:

Optimised for use with the WPN311 RangeMax? Wireless Router, which dramatically boosts signal and eliminates dead spots, to provide superior wireless coverage and speed to your desktop via the PCI slot. 1000% more coverage than 802.11g: As a 21st-century consumer, your desktop computer is an integral part of your life. But does your home computing environment work for you? Even if you already have a wireless network, you've probably found "dead spots" in your home where your Internet connection fades in and out, or drops off completely. Now, say good-bye to those dead spots ? and say hello to the freedom to work (and play) absolutely anywhere in your home! With the RangeMax Wireless Router and PCI Adapter, your whole house becomes a "hot spot." NETGEAR's exclusive RangeMax technology gives you the longest range of any wireless network on the market today - up to 10 times the wireless coverage of 802.11g. So you'll have a sizzling-fast, consistent connection in every room of your house. Range Matters: Put the NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter to work for you, and that's all you need - leave those range extenders, repeaters, and external antennas at the store. The RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter is optimized for use with the RangeMax Wireless Router which adjusts to the interference and physical barriers in your home, and delivers up to 500,000 square feet of coverage - 1000% more than 802.11g. And the RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter is 100% compatible with your existing 802.11b/g products. Power Under the Hood: RangeMax is an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology that uses seven internal antennas in the wireless router. The RangeMax Wireless Router constantly surveys your home environment for barriers and interference and adjusts the signal to compensate for these performance inhibitors. For example, if you want to place your desktop in a different location, the RangeMax Wireless Router automatically senses the change and selects fr
