Customer Rating: Summary: Dalek Sec, beautifully finished Comment: I bought the 12" Dalec Sec to add to my collection and he really is finished better and sounds better than the gold Dalek I have. I have to agree with what a lot of other reviewers have said, the blue illuminated eye is really eerie and my favourite phrase is "No other warning will be given".
Considering I remember the Daleks from the 60's, I really should find something better to do with my life, but these guys really are something.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Dalek under my control - what more could you want. Comment: OK, so it wasn't under my control, it was under the control of my 8 year old son who is Who Mad (like the rest of us). He spent most of Xmas Exterminating everyone or carefully parking it out of harms way. Lights & plunger all detach so it isn't trashed after a knock (although plunger is a bit tricky to re-attach). Movement is great because it spins and remote control is excellent with the array of Sound FX and Nice and easy to control.
Overall - Best buy and most successful present of the year.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't fight over it you two. Comment: I have a son and daughter, this toy was bought for my son but as soon as it appears, son, daughter, husband and me are all drawn inexerably toward's it ,we all want to have a go.
A real joy to behold so much detail, it moves well and it's voice is spot on.
One draw back, it's delicate, handle with care.
Over all brilliant just wish I'd bought two, one for each child or maybe three cause my husband loves it ,when the children are asleep and he's had a beer, up he goes and sneek's it downstairs to have a go.
Customer Rating: Summary: You will be exterminated! Comment: This is so brilliant of so many levels! I always make films with this Dalek on my laptop. It's so cool. It moves the speed a proper Dalek would. It talks! It says "Exterminate"! But, there is a down side-not with the Dalek itself. As you open the box, the terror of a year-supply of sellotape and that annoying stuff you have to get the scissors on awaits you. But, moving on, it is one of the best toys in the history of best toys! I'd recommend this to any Doctor Who fan!
Customer Rating: Summary: Will the Dalek Exterminate the Degg's ? Comment: A super piece of kit, all members of the family seem to love him, therefore suitable for all age ranges. A great toy for any Who fan.
He moves well but even better on tiled floors as on some carpets (longer pile) there is a slight difficulty as he seems to get stuck. Tried him on wooden flooring and there is no stopping him! Just watch out for your pets, our dog likes to sniff him and follow him about, he has not been barked at yet, but the dog has been told that "he will be exterminated".
The sounds he makes are amazing, (unlike the remote controlled toys of years ago). My husband says he sounds so realistic, what is it with men and their toys, especially ones from their own childhood? I suppose that the next, next generation will also be into the Doctor (if it has anything to do with our children that is, as they adore him).
The plunger (eye part to me) is the only down side (it appears to be a weak part, comes unstuck and really difficult to put back into place if you are heavy handed like myself. This part came off when trying to remove him from the box, 'God I thought there you go I've broken it already', anyway same thing happened later when husband playing with him, so no it was not me! The rest of his body part is more solid (plastic) but albeit quite strong, and looks so authentic, even down to the tiny details.
It takes an awful lot of batteries to power him and remember that they are not included in the price, so if you are thinking of buying one remember to buy batteries or the person/you that it is for would be rather miffed if they couldn't use it straight away.
Glad I bought one for my son, yes! would I buy it after seeing and using it? Yes!
The beauty of this is that it is also a sexless toy, therefore you could buy one for any girl or boy Who fan.
Warning though if bought for young child, poor child will hardly get any play with it, but daddy and elder siblings will be eternally grateful for the use of it !
