Summary: DON'T DELAY BUY IT TODAY
Comment: OVERALL - VERY IMPRESSED WITH PREFORMANCE AND EASY OF INSTALLATION

WHY DID I BUY THIS ?
-health concerns with WLAN. Lets face it, on health grounds it aint proven technology. Dont really want to risk my kids health for the ease of using WLAN
-transmission speeds in the house. WLAN is always 50% that quoted on the box at best.

REVIEW
-VERY VERY easy, it's practically plug and play. Load the CD plug in 2 adapters and you're up and running
-EXCELLENT TRANSMISSION SPEEDS.
Speed at router 5.15mg (RUNNING OFF ROUTER DIRECTLY)
Speed on Devolo 5.09mg (FURTHEREST PART OF HOUSE 3RD STOREY)
Speed on WLAN 2.30mg (RIGHT BESDIE WLAN ROUTER)
- No variability across rings in Consumer Unit (CU). Was worried about the transmission in rooms on seperate rings in CU. I tested at furtherest part of house with the adapter on a 4 plug extension and still 5.09mg that's about a 1% drop from router to limit of house, I can live with that. (Maybe cause I still have fuses and not individual circuit breakers in the CU.).

OVERALL VERY IMPRESSED WOULD RECOMMEND WITH HESITATION

Summary: OMG better than 5*, 8 minutes 26 seconds from cold start...
Comment: ... and that (true manual stopwatch time) includes booting up my laptop, opening and unpacking the Devolo box, finding a 'socket doubler' to make room for the gizmo, and searching for my laptop's external CD/DVD drive that I basically never use (so I could insert the Devolo installation CD-ROM); and guess what... I couldn't find the external drive, BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER... I just plugged the supplied blue boxes into power sockets - one near my DSL modem, one near my laptop far away in the house, then plugged in the respective ethernet cables as supplied, and that was it... now here I am writing this review (Amazon login time not counted in the 8 minutes 26 seconds). I reckon the actual 'Develo powerline networking' part of this little run took under a minute: how long does it take to plug in two boxes and two cables? That's all I had to do.

In fact, the earlier reviews (and some annoying WiFi configuration problems) are what caused me to give this a try. I normally can't be bothered to write reviews, but these guys deserve it...
In terms of payoff for effort invested, this wins my all-time gadget prize... I'm going to buy some more for other rooms in the house... not that I'm paranoid about wireless radiation or anything (heh, another of my hidden motivations for this experiment...), but just from a performance point of view, this solves all my domestic networking problems...

What's my actual connection speed? Who cares? It's infinitely higher than 0, which is what I had before, and subjectively speaking, it's blazing... that's all I need to know. Anyway, whatever it is, it is at least 10 times higher than my DSL speed, so I really don't care... Thank you Devolo... where have you been all my (networking) life?

Summary: Superb networking device!
Comment: Having tried countless wireless connections, this product appeared to be what I've been looking for. As with other reviews, it was extremely easy to set-up and I had the unit working within 15 mins. Does exactly what its meant to do, without any fuss! My only negative comment is the advertised speed of 85Mb...? I could only manage 58Mb so far, but this is more than adequate for my use and I would definately recommend this unit to family and friends. Well done Devolo!

Summary: Works like magic !
Comment: Very easy to use. Just works out of the box. And comes with two ethernet cables as well ......... how generous ! I am getting much better performance than my WiFi. Overall a very well designed product, and loved reading what it says on the box: "Engineered in Germany" .... reminded me of reading "Designed in California" written on the packaging of Apple's iPod. For a well designed product credit goes to both the people and the place they belong, so can't blame them !
