Customer Rating: Summary: Wii Compatibility Comment: Just so you know, you can now request an adapter free from Joytech to fix the Wii component issue. For those technically inclined, it's actually just a resistor on the 'Y' signal, as the Wii provides too strong a signal for the Joytech Control Centre (and some TV's).
Customer Rating: Summary: Just what I needed Comment: Well, all I can say in response to the people above is that it works absolutely fantastically 100% with an old fashioned non-HD TV!
So if, like me, you haven't made the jump to HD yet, and you're not planning to just yet - this works brilliantly. I've got all my consoles plugged in through composite - from Megadrive to XBox 360, and they all work really well.
The addition of having a network hub built in is great, and the only thing I would add as a "wish" to the product would be to have a web-server interface on it to save the complicated high-score-table-esque naming of the channels.
Customer Rating: Summary: PS3 compatibility problems Comment: Like most people reviewing this product I bought it so that I could connect my 360 and PS3 into the same component inputs on the back of the TV.
Unfortunately the unit seems to be a bit particular as to which games it works with! Resistance fall of Man and Motorstorm work OK most of the time (The odd lack of signal between menus) but Virtua Tennis just does not work with this unit. I've also had this confirmed by another disappointed Joytech customer who's experienced the identical problem.
To be on the safe side I would avoid buying the Joytech if you're connecting a PS3.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wii issues Comment: Bought one of these as input switcher for an xbox 360, ps2 and wii, all through component into a 32" HD ready samsung LCD tv (Also fro Amazon, and very good). 360 is great, supplied component cable is quite poor but get good colour saturation, albeit a little darker when compared to a direct connection. The ps2 has quite washed out colours, although it is entirely possible that if I buy a better component cable to connect the control centre the issue will be resolved. The biggest problem, however, is with th wii component (official nintendo cable). In bright scenes, whether on the menu or in game, the picture distorts or even disappears. This does not happen when the wii is connected directly. This is a confirmed problem with most TVs by Joytech, and is blamed on some kind of encryption on the signal. Problem is worst when played in 480p, but still present, to a lesser degree, when playing in interlaced mode. There are a LOT of people out there with this problem. It is a compatibility issue. In conclusion, xbox 360 = Great, other consoles = good with appropriate cabling, Wii = don't bother, until problem is resolved.
Customer Rating: Summary: A stark warning Comment: THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH NINTENDO WII
You heard it here first. Do not buy this item if you intend to use it with the Wii, it works at first, but go into the Mii, or Shopping channel, and it gives up the ghost.
I'd give it 4/5 for the 360 though. The image is good, but not perfect. It's a typical example of a jack of all trades, master of none... (except as a network switch, which seems perfect..)
