Customer Rating: Summary: Exceptionally good performance Comment: This is my third router, the previous ones being Belkin and Netgear, and both became faulty after a period of use. I have had the Voyager for about seven months, so I can't vouch for its long term performance, but the performance within that period has been exceptionally good. Firstly, the Internet connection has NEVER dropped out. It has been switched off when I have been away from home occasionally and on switching on again it recaptures the broadband signal within about half a minute without my touching it. The other two both had occasional drop outs and had to be rebooted. Secondly the signal strength right at the top of my three storey Victorian house is more than twice as strong as it was with my earlier routers. The wireless card in the upstairs PC reports 75% signal as against 35% with the other routers. It was fast and straightforward to set up and both the instructions and the on-screen menu are written in plain English. The security key is pre-set in this unit, which means you might have difficulty if you wanted to use it as an unsecured public access point in a restaurant or something like that, although there may well be a way to disable the WEP security somewhere in the software. In its default condition it gives you 128 bit encryption which should be ultra safe. The Wi-Fi connection speed seems just as fast as when you plug the computer in on a cable.
Overall, very impressive performance, and very good value for money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Robert Comment: I bought this router to replace a BT Voyager 105 which had started dropping my connection after two years.
Initial set up was as easy as plugging it all in, entering my password and away I went.
Speed was fairly consistent with the odd drop out every few weeks, just a matter of re booting and I was up and running, no real hassle and not worth getting an engineer out.
Drops out became more common and speed gradually fell away, I went through the online fault finding process with my ISP, next step was to call out a BT engineer, I decided to buy another Router just in case my router was faulty and I got hit with a big call out charge.
Lucky I did, I bought another make of router, connected it all up and now I'm enjoying much faster speeds on both desk top and laptop connected wirelessly, and I've had a connection now for 3 months with no drop outs.
The BT router was only 18 months old, is there built in obsolescence I ask my self with two routers failing in such a short time.
Customer Rating: Summary: So Easy Comment: Recieved this yesterday, took it home and 30 minutes later my wireless network was ready. So easy to set up and install, unlike the unreliable Belkin unit it replaced.
If I have a criticism, its on the network key on the bottom of the unit, whilst its an excellent idea, they need to make the print bigger as one of the letters could have been one of three different choices.
Customer Rating: Summary: Reliable wireless Router, security protecred Comment: Great router from BT, you can boost the signal if the router is kept away from anything metal, ie: radiators or mirrors, the time of day can affect your speed, as expected- I only saw a poor signal when it was not in a good position as stated above-I found that tip from Webuser Computer magazine.Very happy with BT router. I would recommed this to anyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing! Up and running on wireless in less than 10 mins from delivery Comment: I feel absolutely compelled to write a review. I took delivery of the BT Voyager about 15 mins (or less) ago. Opened the package, plugged the cables (wired) in - all very straightforward. The only 'intervention' was to type in my ISP's (Talk Talk) username/password. I had my broadband connection instantly. Took the next couple of minutes to configure my wireless.
In less than 10 mins from delivery, I was up and running on wireless broadband!
I switched from NETGEAR DG834PN which lasted only 1.5 days before I pulled my hair out and bought this new modem/router as the wireless component of the NETGEAR modem was totally useless.
I am so thrilled - this is the easiest techie thing I have ever done.
As it's early days, I will update my review in the next couple of days to let you know how I am getting on with my wireless connection.
19 July 08: 2 days on and I am still completely happy with my purchase! Don't think further - just buy it!
