Customer Rating: Summary: It's a piece of cake... Comment: Set up as per simple instructions.
Connected to my ISP.
Couldn't be easier...
Customer Rating: Summary: Not bad, if you don't own an XBox 360 Comment: Basically, if you order one of these and you own a 360, you're in for pain. I have to unplug my 360 when I'm not using it, as it interferes with this router. If you leave your router up and running for a couple of days, and leave your 360 on, the wireless side because unusable, with a high percentage of packet loss. Also, if you don't have a MIMO adpater for your PC, the signal strength is less than impressive. Think the DG834GT is probably a better option.
Customer Rating: Summary: Useful paperweight Comment: I have had this router over a year and it is possibly the worst one I have ever had.
The wireless signal is rendered useless by Bluetooth, such as a PS3 controller and a mobile headset. More susceptible to microwave interference, even when the microwave is in a different room.
The ADSL modem doesn't get the best out of a line and required a reboot weekly.
I have ditched this and got a different router and am now getting faster, more stable broadband and can use my PS3 without without wires.
Netgear support was useless and ignored the issues I was having.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good ADSL Connection, horrible Wi-Fi Comment: I've had the router for a little over a year now and will be changing it to something more reliable. Being a staunch Netgear customer I have always sang their praise but sadly no more. The router is easy to install and configure, as expected with a Netgear device, but I have been plagued with issues relating to Wi-Fi since I unboxed it. Contacting support was easy, however talking to an engineer with real technical knowledge is an exercise in futility. Having to go through the same procedures time and again because the phone engineer is reading from a script is exceptionally frustrating, especially when you work in IT and perform basic checks as a matter of course. I have RMA'd the device only to receive a new device with the exact same issue of intermittent packet loss (read dropped connections) with this supposedly new device. Contacting Netgear support I was told that nothing more could be done. Needless to say I am not pleased with the lack of support and will not be buying Netgear devices again. The whole MIMO angle is little more than a sales ploy as I have seen no enhancements in range or strength compared to other routers with identical setup and location.
Customer Rating: Summary: Blocking ports does not work! Comment: I have spent over 3 hours on the support telephone trying to get this router to work to block ports so the kids can't play certain games during the night, but its just not possible, even though this router claims to have those powers.
The Firewall Rules section of the control panel just DOESNT WORK. I even took my router back to the shop and got another the same, but that one doesnt work either.
Technical support are fine for an easy problem, but their guys are no good if you have a faulty machine. They promise call backs which never come and although the router works great for everything else, I have to drop two starts because the reason I wanted this router was to be able to block ports, but it just doesnt do it!
