Summary: If You Love Games.......
Comment: you'll love this! Bought it for Christmas 2007 after having read good reviews. It lived up to expectations. Played it with both adults and kids and it is a good challenging and thought provoking game. It's quick, usually no longer than half an hour and not too intense for a strategy game. The board and pieces are well made and it works well with either two or four players - three players isn't brilliant- you'd have to play it to see why. Highly recommended!

Summary: Best Game 2007
Comment: Bought this for my husband - and it's adored by my 4 and 6 year old. The theory is not that difficult, though my 4 year old hasn't mastered the strategy yet he can still play and it's not put him off. Games take about 20 mins, so not much room to get bored. We found it OK to play as 2 player as long as you take alternate colours. Only 3 stars for durability as if the pieces are lost not sure how easy it would be to recreate them.

Summary: What just happened?
Comment: I got this game as a Xmas present. I didn't have a lot of hope for the game initially, but several games later I have found it to be challenging, annoying and rewarding. A game will take you approx 45 minutes to complete. The two player game means both players take contol of two colours each, which is initially overwhelming, but probably not a bad thing. The three player game requires each player in charge of a colour and the fourth colour being played alternately by the three players.
My wife, 13 year old daughter and I are all willing participants of the game, which believe me is a rare thing.

Summary: Our Xmas Hit 2007
Comment: This game was a family hit this Christmas. It was easy to pick up and play and the more attack minded your strategy the better. It's better (and quicker) with 4 players. Keep the drinks topped up and the nibbles on hand and you can have hours of fun!

Summary: The nearly perfect game
Comment: This game is the best game for all ages that we (aged 6 to 69) have played. You start with 21 pieces each and normally have 5 or so that you can't place at the end. Normally it all boils down to the options remaining for placing the final 5-10 pieces. You don't need to think too much about placing the first 10 pieces, thereafter it largely depends on what the other players do. Its great for thinking geometrically so educationally excellent. There's an element of strategy, too, especially towards the end.
Although you can play with 2 (by having two colours each) or 3 players (by taking it in turns with the fourth colour), its best with 4, which can be a problem if potential players aren't in the mood. Good idea to count pieces at start and end as its not as good with made-up ones.

Editorial Reviews:

As featured in Hamleys Brain Gym. Brilliantly compulsive strategy game that has loads to recommend it. Like originality and international awards for starters. Best of all the rules are very simple and games last for 20-30 minutes. Once you play Blokus you will want to play it again, and again......
