Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: neuros 2 Comment: this is a amazing product i have got rid of my video and replaced it with this it brillant very easy to use and very clever gadget no home should be without one a good and easy way to watch dvd or televison on a psp Customer Rating: Summary: Good, very useful, but needs improving Comment: The first thing I should say is that this is a good, and worthwhile product. I have both a PSP and an iPod, and it is a very useful way of getting video from my TiVo onto a portable player - I have been using it regularly for a couple of weeks now. The unit is small, compact and supplied with all the cables you will need - one for video in, one for video out. And here comes the big let-down - I expected the device to pass through the video. I took the output from my TiVo, sent it to the Neuros, and then from the Neuros to the TV. All good so far, except that there was no picture from the TiVo on the TV screen. I switched on the Neuros, and was able to see the preview picture of the TiVo within the Neuros software. I was not able to view the TiVo while the Neuros was connected, except through a small preview. Big letdown. Having configured the Neuros, and updated the firmware, I then went to Maplin to get cables to split the signal from the TiVo - one cable to the TV, the other to the Neuros. This means that I can't see what is happening on the Neuros, but I can watch TiVo. Problem solved. When I want to record, I now insert a card, and press record on the Neuros remote - a red light comes on to signal that it is recording. Press record again to stop recording. I don't really need to see what is going on. Having got my Memory Stick full of video, I can pop it into my PSP, or copy it to my iPod. It works well, although the compression is NOT top-notch - there are artifacts from the compression, but overall it is very watchable, and very convenient. Bottom line is this - if you want to copy the football or Eastenders conveniently to your PSP or iPod so you can watch it on the move, this is an excellent tool. If you are planning on using this tool to archive TV shows, don't bother - the resulting picture quality simply isn't good enough for that - it is designed for small screens. Overall, I am very happy with it - it does what I want it to do - ie. copy video easily from my TiVo to my portable devices. As I type this, I'm watching the World Rugby 7's highlights on my PSP - the picture is clear enough to see the scoreboard, and not miss any of the action, but those compression artifacts are noticeable when the action heats up. Customer Rating: Summary: Could have been so much better Comment: Very portable and great idea. I was amazed at the size of the product. It does what it says very well, recording from TV and converting to mpeg. I did not try recording from dvd but I guess it would have worked just as well. The menu system should have been better. I though of buying this instead of a dvd recorder but problem is I still have to port onto a DVD somehow. You need a Campact Flash card, which you don't get with the bundle, so you got to buy your own. a 1GB card gives you about 50min of recording time on the best quality. You will need a 2GB card just to get a whole game of footie. Then you got the problem of sending it to a DVD. But I guess most people are using this not as a DVD recorder but for porting their films to PSP (as it says on the box). I would have kept it but for one thing, no USB connection. I thought you could simply connect your laptop to it and download the MPEG files onto the laptop and job done. But no you got to use another card reader to send the file to your laptop. All in all to much hussle and they should have put a USB on it. Customer Rating: Summary: Explanation for those unsure - Read Please it'll be worth it Comment: Okay ... i have a psp which i want to view my SKY programmes on. My videos on. And my DVD's on. I bought this product to do these jobs and format them to my PSP for quality viewing. And it does it. Fantastic. Very easy. Great controlere - Looks wicked. Problem is sometimes when recording DVD's which are widescreen it doesn't format properly so i bought the X-OOM movies... Basically if you have a widescreen DVD,VIDEO or pragramme you can then format it exactly to ur psp screen ! ... Buy this product if you want it for 1. Watching DVD,Videos, TV Programmes (NTL, SKY or NORMAL) But also buy X-OOM Movies... TRUST ME IT IS FANTASTIC ! Customer Rating: Summary: too much hassle Comment: I recently purchsed this product from maplin (sorry amazon you didnt have it in stock) and at first i thought it was a good idea but once you start using it, you tend to find its too much of a hassle to keep unplugging in and changing ports etc etc the idea is clever to copy off the tv but you have to go the back of the tv then plug in your psp so u cant really see whats going on. If you use a tv tuner card in your pc then i suppose that will save you time but again getting behind your pc is a pain, its also good that you can plug in your memory card directly but it doesnt give you the option when copying from the tv how you want it compressed- whereas if you download something from the net and use other psp software you can thus saving memory- overall a good (not great) idea but too much plugging and unplugging perhaps someone should make a wireless version ?
