Customer Rating: Summary: They fail easily Comment: Like others, mine have failed. I have had two of these and both have failed after a few months. I now use another brand. There are obviously reliability issues with these - you might be lucky or you might not. Avoid.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent adapter for XP & Vista Comment: I can't comment on other people's problems but I use these and love them. If you are buying second hand make sure you get a warranty though. If there has been a bad batch then they will sooner or later end up for sale as returns, and if your seller doesn't test them or offer a warranty you could get lumbered with somebody else's junk.
Customer Rating: Summary: There appears to be a large faulty batch Comment: Like another of your reviewers I obtained mine from BigBox and am thankful that I did, because of their exemplary service in the light of the item and its replacement both being faulty. The first worked perfectly except that unless it was warm it was not recognised by the computer at startup unless I unplugged it and replaced it in its USB slot. The replacement adapter worked perfectly for a day and a bit, and then was dead.
I then bought another at the local Argos store, hoping it would be from a different batch, but that completely died after less than two days' use. Hopeless! I now have the task of finding a properly functional different make of adapter that is sufficiently compatible with my Voyager 2091 router...
Customer Rating: Summary: Doesnt work Comment: BT router - BT adaptor - XP - shouldnt be a problem...
Worked for about two days - would not connect - tried everything - in the end sent it back - new one just wouldnt work - again tried everything - advised to return for refund....
the only positive point I can make is Big Box Distributions customer care was first rate - replied promptly and without hassle.
As for the adaptor - avoid
Customer Rating: Summary: Voyager 1055 wireless adapter Comment: I've been using 2 separate Voyager 1055 adapters for over a year now, and i cannot fault them. signal strength is always at maximum throughout the house and i have yet to experience any drop outs. im currently running one on my Vista aswell, the drivers on the bt voyager website work correctly, for a clean install of vista atleast.
overall a good product, price isnt *too* bad, considering it is fully compatible with vista.
note: for users of windows vista, you should download the appropriate driver installation program from the bt voyager website, DO NOT plug the adapter into your pc before doing this, and do this only when it tells you to, also DO NOT use the driver CD that comes with the product, as it contains XP or below drivers.
