Customer Rating: Summary: Belkin G+ Wireless Adapter Comment: Adapter worked for a week with no problems (apart from sometimes getting a very weak signal from a wireless router attached to a PC 10 metres away in a downstairs room) and then died. The green LED would not light up. I contacted Belkin who told me to change some settings. This didn't work. I re-installed the software. This didn't work so I downloaded new drivers from Belkin website. Still no luck. I returned the adapter to Belkin who sent me a new one free of charge as part of their lifetime warranty. It worked for 1 hour but when I went to use it several hours later it had died again - no green LED. Re-installed software - still no life. Attached it to a different PC - still no life.
I wouldn't recommend this device. It may be cheap but spend more money and get a decent adapter.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great!,IF you DON`T mind the sheer hassle of repairing it each time you want to go online! Comment: This was my 1st(of 2)BELKIN usb adapters i purchased for my 2 pc`s,Both running XP.
whilst the software DID install fine,i was initally shocked at the SHODDY manufacture of the device,it`s NOT a SNUG fit in ANY usb port,as you`d expect from a usb device, but reminded me of the Old(and i mean OLD!)Days of the ZX81 and it`s RAM pack add-on,which would wobble like mad!
Anywho,was INITALLY impressed,it found the signal,was getting 54mbps/Very good strength.great........
HOWEVER!,next time(and in fact nearly EVERYTIME since then?)when i boot Pc up from scratch?the unit appears DEAD! the green LED?LIFELESS,yet the software appears to be,at least telling it to scan!
i have had to.unplug+reconnect unit and/or get windows to run a repair file, just to connect!
tried..........well everything, replaced USELESS cradle with a gold plated! usb extension lead, went to belkins tech.support site, downloaded LATEST DRIVERS.problems persisted!uninstalled and reinstalled product.....still NO JOY!
so?Emailed Belkin,explained situ.in depth!
1st reply?we understand you are looking for drivers...etc(errrr?NO! i`m looking for results!)
Emailed AGAIN.....2nd reply?try uninstalling and reinstalling!
GAHHHHHHHHH!!!
Def.the unit,as the one i bought for the 2nd Pc?runs like a dream!
gonna give it 2 stars,as i DO get a great signal,but...........?i AM replacing this product with something of a Higher std.
Will NOT be buying from belkin AGAIN!
Customer Rating: Summary: Do not buy Belkin!!!!!!!! Comment: My advice for people looking to use a wireless network, do not buy Belkin, i've read many reviews on the adapters in particular and i couldn't agree more with what most have said. I am on my second wireless adapter now after the first one died recently, this second one is still useless to a point where i've regretted wasting my money on it, i should've gone for another brand, something that won't crash my pc everytime i try and look at something online or everytime i download some music or look at Google Earth. Even after trying the latest drivers for the damn thing or reinstalling the software it still crashes my pc, luckily i can reconnect after my pc boots up and hence i'm managing to type this review now.
Basically do not buy this useless piece of junk if you want a stress free wireless internet connection, go for something a little more expensive that is easier to set up and does not crash your pc, enough said i think.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stay clear & buy something else! Comment: I had no idea how fast and reliable my broadband connection was until this piece of rubbish one day decided to die on me. I persevered with this unstable, unreliable piece of kit for 6 months, Tried everything: having firstly with Belkins own software (waste of memory and useless), then uninstalling the software and used just the drivers, both with and without the adaptor (which appears to have no effect whatsoever).
Slight improvement once I'd uninstalled the Belkin software, but I just got so frustrated how one minute I'd have 'excellent' then the next 'poor', or anything inbetween. Even when the connection appears to be excellent, it can be so slowwww.
As I'd spent £30 on it (at the time) I stuck with it although almost throwing it out the window on several occasions!
Last week, it decided to throw in the towl altogether and I'm now SO glad it did. My friend gave me a Netgear WG111v2 adaptoe (only 54Mb/s) and it flys by in comparison. Now I have stable, fast connection. Just wish I'd thrown the Belkin in the bin months ago!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Rubbish Comment: Tried to use with Vista.Absolute pig to try and run.Do not touch this if using Vista.Could load with XP,but still had problems with network going off and on.
