Summary: Great high quality printer for the price
Comment: If you need to print up to A3+ size on a regular basis and want a print quality that is the equal of good on-line print services then look no further.

Pros
Worked straight out of the box and driver installed without any problems.
Very impressive quality.
Prints on a large range of heavy weight papers.
Very fast printing even at highest quality.
I got 15 high quality A4 prints plus 6 or 7 High quality A3 prints before needing to replace three inks and by all accounts this is pretty good compared to the competition from Epson and HP.

Cons
Paper can be difficult to source.
Inks can be expensive at around £8.50 per cartridge however you can find Canon ink cartridges for about £7.50 with no delivery charge.
Slow start up time.
Didn't come with a set of sample papers, which would be good considering the price of A3 paper.

A highly recommended printer for those who want to print and display their photographs.

Note that you need to have an understanding of colour management so as to configure the printer to get the best prints.

Summary: Excellent choice - Not - update
Comment: When I needed to replace my 2 yr old deceased A3 printer I spent one and a half days surfing online reviews and tech specs. Apart from quality of print and long lasting colour, I was looking for a robust printer that could handle heavyweight papers with a flat pass through, and was neither wasteful of ink nor print time. This printer offered this on screen so, although more than I usually spend on a printer, I hit the order button and the next morning it arrived.

It was very easy to install on both my PC and Mac. Its separate ink tanks for each colour must be more cost effective than combined colour cartridges, and it's quieter than the other brands I've had before. It's taken a 250gsm A3 sheet through the top sheet feeder without any effort at all (the front feed taking stock up to 1.2mm). I set it up to print a high quality photo print and got up to go and make some tea while it got on with it - before I'd reached the door it was done - the quality outstanding. I have no regrets at the extra outlay as it meets all my requirements and looks solidly built to last long enough for the savings on ink cartridges to pay the difference - apart from that you're paying for a quality printer which I can recommend.

Update 19/06/08 - since submitting this glowing review 3 months ago I have returned the item and received a full refund! It suddenly stopped working, showing error 5110. Canon sent a technician who applied some grease and it worked for a while then recently repeated the same problem - when I returned it. The first breakdown happened at a weekend when there is no Canon technical support available and, on trying to resolve it, I found other people on the internet had the same problem. I may be mad but I have just ordered a Canon Pixma Pro9500 - where they have sorted this problem out (I hope) - but it is even more expensive and unfortunately the ink cartridges I had purchased for the Pro9000 will not fit it!

Summary: canon pixma pro 9000
Comment: I had a canon s9000 ,it was fab, cheap on cartridges, great print quality,it was awsome!!.
The canon pixma pro 9000 is out of this world!!.Having had it two weeks,I have just printed some A3+ photo's and they are alive!,the colour is exactly the same as the photo, sharp, and detailed!!.
I paid £548 for my s9000,and had 5 years good service from it,refilling carts.
If I get that out of this pro 9000, I will be very Happy.
It is a fair bit bigger, and am finding it hard to track the red and green carts, but when the rest of the UK catches up.this is a serious bit of kit!
If you want your printed pictures to look like the photo you took, this is for you.
No I don't work for CANON but it is that good.

Summary: One of the best
Comment: I upgraded from the Canon S9000 and it was like entering a whole new world of outstanding prints. The depth of colour, level of contrast and sheer quality of the produced image together with ease of use makes this a real winner.

Real value for money

Summary: Absolutely marvellous printer!!
Comment: I bought this printer via Amazon and it is brilliant. I started using Canon Pro paper but honestly the output is totally fantastic on Jessops paper too!
Just one small point.... Amazon's ad for this printer says that it is "Dispatched from and sold by pixmania_uk". This is not true. If you buy it from Pixmania be aware that the product will be dispatched to you from France.

Editorial Reviews:

This professional photo printer offers outstanding 8-colour output with a wide colour gamut, for A3+ photo printing. Benefit from support for photo and fine art papers and complete colour control.
