Customer Rating: Summary: Solid set of phones Comment: I have bought three of these sets - one for my home, one for my parents and one for my cousin in Egypt. We all love them for their quality and simplicity. No fancy colour LCD screen to drain the battery.
I can't comment on the answerphone as we never use it but the speakerphone facility is very useful and of great quality. The transfer call option is great as is the ability to make calls between the phones (useful if you're in the loft and need something from the ground floor!).
The handsets are a little larger than some but who wants a home phone that you can't find? My only gripe is that the phone book doesn't seem to propagate from one handset to the others - you would have to fill in the phone book on each individual handset so I only have it on the main one! That's what stops it from getting 5 stars but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these phones.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointed Comment: The phone does all of the above but no one has mentioned the answerphone's extremely poor sound quality when playing back messages. Often i cannot understand what is being said, the quality is so bad. If i had known i would not have paid for this unit. Its almost useless !
It's a shame that the system is let down by this. If it was more money for better bitrate playback or has less saved messages but clearer i would have been much happier. 2 stars because its advertised function is barely of use.
Customer Rating: Summary: It does what it says on the box Comment: Bought the system to replace a very aged 4-handset DECT from another maker that was on its last legs, and was persuaded by the very positive reviews here and on all the other TG712x listings.
Setting up couldn't have been easier, and that's from a typical male who is far too impatient to read the instruction book completely first! The first pleasant surprise was that setting the time/date on the base handset instantly set up the other 3, and the ability to export the "phone book" to all the other handsets is a useful feature. Being a bit short-sighted and a bit hard of hearing [yes, I'm a bit over 60] many of the products I've seen could be described as a triumph of style over utility! Anyway, Day 1 with this system was completely painless: time will tell more on reliability, of course. Point to note ... it uses AAA rechargable batteries [2 per handset, supplied], so the handset is still quite light despite its size.
GOOD POINTS. Handset ergonomics. Clear buttons. Instant volume adjustment. Legible display. Technical features.
BAD POINTS. The main base unit is surprisingly large [7" x 4" in old money]. A splash of colour for the "ON" and "OFF" buttons might have been useful for some users.
CUSTOMER SERVICE. Supplied direct from DST(UK), who could not have been more helpful in sorting out my VAT refund. Delivery ... I think it was 48 hours from pressing the first button on the Amazon website to making the first telephone call!
Customer Rating: Summary: Finally, a cordless phone set that really does do what it says on the box! Comment: This is our third cordless quad ansaphone set in three years, and at last I think I've found something that actually does what it says on the box!
Our first set was from BT. It never really had a high enough ringtone, in fact it only had two ringtones and both were insipid. After 12 months one handset died on us and another was 'lost' when someone never put it back on the docking base... A second set, from Motorola, only lasted weeks. The handset batteries kept dying, there was no speakerphone facility, the volume kept resetting itself to low and the date/time function kept going wrong...
This Panasonic set has everything... and it all works!
Speakerphone - not just on the base unit, but every handset allows you to put the call on to loudspeaker, and you don't get that echo-chamber effect!
Volume control is good. You can adjust the incoming and outgoing volume, and the handsets have an excellent earpiece function, so you don't find yourself sliding the handset around the side of your head to get the earpiece aligned with your ear every so often (or is that just me?!).
There are 14 different ringtones, so you can choose different tunes/tones for each handset if, like us, your kids are forever leaving/swapping handsets around the house. Just to be really silly and naff, I have Jingle Bells playing on the kitchen handset!! But there are some nice, functional tunes/tones, too.
Transferring calls from one room to another, or the intercom function, is really simple: just press Int and the number of the handset you want to transfer the call to. When someone answers you just put your phone down... easy.
Something rather rare, for cordless phones, I think. The keypads are big, and they illuminate. This is useful for either those with poor eyesight or those, like my husband, with gallumping great fingers who have to really be very careful not to punch in wrong numbers because they press two keys at once.
The set really was easy to set up and the instruction manual was very clear and helpful.
Finally. You can add even more handsets to the unit. We have four scattered around the house and I'm now considering a fifth handset.
One of my best buys this year.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Pleased Comment: This was easy to set up and works well with BT Broadband Talk through a Home Hub router. It is worth knowing that the Hub Manager must be configured (through advanced settings) to synchonise with internet time eg time.windows.com , otherwise the time/date on the handsets reset to January!

While we've seen some scorching-hot cameras from Kodak in recent months, the blocky M1073 doesn't quite inspire the same kind of love at first sight.
