Summary: Don't believe the (bad) hype!
Comment: Having done extensive research about DAB radio and wanting a portable one to take to football matches I went for this radio from Pure. All the bad reviews seem to focus on the poor reception. If you check out before you buy, the areas you live or work etc. you can then make a judgement whether it's worth buying. I did and all areas I use the radio in were listed as "should have reasonable reception" whilst this didn't fill me with confidence I can say that the reception is great in these areas. Sometime you lose signal a bit when travelling but this is when you are going in and out of signal areas. I have never yet had no signal at all.
I would recommend this radio especially for the battery life, a common DAB problem is that it drinks the batteries and therefore it is great to have a rechargeable pack with this radio, it charges in a couple of hours tops and last for 5-6 hours. Expensive at £70 odd but well worth the extra money for the rechargeable pack and the size (it will fit in most pockets no problem).

Summary: On /off no work
Comment: Initially thought this radio was the biz. Good reception and good recharging. Six months in and the on/off stopped working. It just gave up the ghost. The radio lies redundant in a drawer and I am hacked off as I miss it, particularly when I walk home from work.

Summary: Pure Quality
Comment: Like others, this is not my first DAB experience. I have had a portable in the house for 4 years, and have recently bought a superb one for the car.

This was bought to improve my home reception and portability.

At almost a quarter the size of my Goodmans DAB, this little unit is amazing.

First Autotune gives me 45 DAB stations. Small arial isn't too sensitve either. Sit this radio anywhere and it works. Have it upstairs and it also reaches even further.

10 presets on DAB and similar on FM. Tuning in each mode is very simple just from two menu buttons.

Sound isn't fantastic, this is a single low wattage speaker, but listen 40 hours on a single charge is superb. I use DAB mainly to listen to current afffairs and talk channels anyway, so more than adequate for the job.

USB port makes it constantly upgradable.

I'm delighted and can't believe how little I paid for it.

Well done Pure

Summary: 3 miles a day - come Rain, Shine or Hail
Comment: Every morning - I get a wake up call from Caffrey my 90lb Staff/Lab cross - time for my walk me thinks is the general message.

So - up I get - put on clothing to suit the weather - anything from shorts to full storm gear and we make our way round the 3 miles that is a trip to the aerodrome and back .

Before I got this unit - I had various 'cheap' radio and CD players - all of which failed in very short time - then for some reason best known to himself - my husband bought me this as a Happy 21st May present - he's prone to random gifts but no point telling him not to :-)

The unit fits nicely in my various pockets - it's a doddle to set up and use - enough presets for my needs and a signal strength that is second to none - FM signals around here get kinda squishy

So - aside from the dog walking, this gets used for pottering in the garden, taken away on hols with a small set of external speakers and all manner of other things - latest was at Twikenham listening to R5L commentary as our beloved Wasps stuffed the Tigers ..

In a nutshell - I am totally into DAB - have three players at home (hubby just bought the Pure Highway and loves it) and this little beauty allows me to listen to Peter Humphries in pure stereo as he dismantles Gordon Brown's latest excuse for the loss in the South Natntwich Gorbles Scilly Isles By-election. Oh and in the evening - the archers sit out on the patio as I eat my tea.

If yr looking for a great portable unit with amazing sound this is the one for you - one tip - the head phones were a little bulky for my ears - but there are plenty of in ear bud type headphones from £10 up to as much as you want to allow you to change them.

Hope this helps .. I'm off to listen to the cricket ..

Summary: BE WARNED!!
Comment: Like a lot of people I have fallen for the hype about DAB Radio.....I have a Roberts for the home and the sound is great. So I thought I would purchase one of these as I do a lot of walking for my work (postman).
BE WARNED.......If you do not live in an erea with a good reception you may as well sing to yourself as they just do not pick up the signals and when you do manage to get an acceptable station, if you move around it comes on and off....Very frustratinggggggg
