Customer Rating: Summary: superb A4 printer Comment: Can't fault the print quality when printing photos. Set mine up by downloading driver directly from the website. This gives all the latest updates.(though it is slow). No problems with vista this way. Love the fact i can leave 6x4 photo paper in a separate tray and have A4 non photo in at the same time. Printing direct from the memory card is also very good and saves a lot of time.( Helps if your camera does good j-pegs like my fuji S6500).Yes, A3 would be nice, but would be 4x the price of this.Great value for such good quality. Hp inks are too expensive, though the compatibles i,ve used are great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great cost effective home photo printer Comment: printer arrived from amazon quickly and was dead easy to setup.
Had my sony cameras printing via pict bridge in minutes.
For the price I am really impressed with the output quality, however the colour matching seemed a little bit dark but i am sure with some adjustment this will be fine.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little beauty! Comment: This machine replaced an ageing HP Photosmart 1215 and what a difference! The setup was very easy. I had a Vista disk in with the machine but I still had to go online to download the Vista update. However, no problems here and machine was soon up and running. The only glitch I have is at start up when a dialog box informs me that the HP CUE Status isn't running and is unable to load. Whatever it is, this doesn't seem to affect the overall running of the printer. I like the fact that HP printers store the paper horizontally so you don't get that annoying curling of the paper as you do with certain other makes! No problems using touch screen for controlling the machine. Printer is highly recommended for the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: great prints - not great feed. Comment: This printer can produce excellent colour prints - with a bit of judicious setting-up, but, and it's a big but - if you want your A4 240g/m2 paper to emerge every time I would forget it. Photo paper feed, especially erring on the heavy side (240 incidentally should be well within this printers' capabilities) is - well let's just say the chances are slim that you'll ever see your print. Now the inherent snag with this type of paper feed is that you can't tell if the paper is jamming until waiting for a couple of minutes (or for hell to freeze over) to find that your paper is still wound around the back rollers (after removing the backplate) or not gone in at all. These are not great traits for a fairly expensive printer. Not to mention the massive loss of ink printing all over the rollers!! Ordinary A4? No problem at all. It's a shame because on the rare occasions the paper does emerge the results are very good. Sorry but it's a daft printer with great potential if only HP could sort out basic problems - i.e. getting the feed to work properly with heavy-ish photo paper. And yes - you should be able to use other makes other than HP papers - obviously. Maybe not so smart!! One to avoid
Customer Rating: Summary: HP Photosmart D7360 Comment: The printer arrived within 2 days, but during set-up we realised it did not have a Vista compatible software disc, so much time was lost downloading patches from the HP site, which was a real pain, and took several attempts. Then, once we went through set-up it was clear that the screen of the printer was faulty - which then meant we encountered the worst bit about HP, their "customer service". I told the operative, who had poor English on a faint line that was difficult to understand, what the fault was, but he still insisted of taking us through a series of pre-planned checks (all this on an expensive 0870 line) only to announce to us after 25 minutes that the "screen was faulty". A replacement printer arrived within a day - quite remarkable - but it then took them 2 months to collect the faulty one. The carriers don't belong to HP so they don't give a toss when you phone them.
Having said all that, once in position and working, the printer has been a dream, and it is cheaper to run than many (the budget cartidges from elsewhere have proved perfect) and the quality is excellent. That's why I've given it 5 stars. But bear in mind that for customer service, HP get zero stars. I spent a further 2 hours via the 0870 numbers to try to get them to pick up the faulty printer, and it is clear that one HP department has absolutely no idea what has been said by another department at a different time, and the offshore telephone assistance is blindingly frustrating in its inefficiency. You are also pestered regularly on-screen for sending information to HP once you are registered with them, so if you can manage to run the printer without sending any personal information to HP I'd recommend telling them nothing. I've stopped responding to requests for information "updates" and it is working perfectly.
If I may add a further piece of general advice - if you can avoid using Windows Vista, then do. It is jumpy, unreliable, won't "talk" to many things, jams-up mid-task, is rubbish on wireless systems, reverts to deleted tasks when you've given it fresh information, and has cost me a fortune in technical time. Most of the set-up problems with this printer were due to Vista, not the hardware itself. Go with XP, as many are now doing. Microsoft have got this one wrong BIG-TIME!
