Customer Rating: Summary: THIS MODEL DOES NOT COME WITH A DVD WRITER Comment: It never occurred to me that a modern computer of this standard would not have a dvd writer. I am still giving it 5 stars, though, because I am so happy to be able to afford a Mac, and this model made it possible. It looks gorgeous, is delightfully quiet, and performance is more than adequate for my needs.
I am hoping that I can get an external writer for £30-£50 which is much less than I saved on getting this model.
One other warning I would give is that the 60Gb drive mine came with is really 55Gb, and there is nearly 20Gb of data preloaded. This makes my 60Gb drive more like 35Gb which is not a problem for me, but it did come as a surprise. A significant portion of that is garage band, which I expect will go when storage gets tight.
But the bottom line is it's a Mac,It's affordable, and I love it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfection in a tiny box! Comment: If you want a Mac that doesn't burn a replica Grand Canyon in your pocket then this is perfect for you. Its BYOKDM (Bring your own Keyboard, Display and Mouse) system allows you to just bring the box home and use your old equipment.
That said however, I recommend that very soon after you buy your Mac Mini you invest in a wireless Mighty Mouse and a Wireless keyboard.
To say that the box is so small Apple have done a great job of filling it with features. As standard it comes with Bluetooth (for the keyboard, mouse, printer and your mobile), USB and Firewire ports and the sleek design that you can only get on a mac.
The actual OSX is amazingly powerful while retaining the style that is so well demonstrated on the outside.
So if you want a taste of Apple heaven or just want to keep up with the Jones's and not end up re-mortgaging your house then this Mac is perfect for you.
I own one myself and I can say its totally fabulous, highly recommended! Five apples from me...
