Summary: BAD for PS3
Comment: Don't waste time or money if your looking for 1080p.

Replaced with a £15 cable from Dixons, works a treat.

Summary: HDMI CABLE CON
Comment: Any hdmi cable will work with out loss of signal as the signal is digital go to monoprice and buy the cable its cheaper dont be conned into buying an expensive cable as it dosnt matter unless the distance is massive between your ps3 or hd output source and your tv / av unit

Summary: No 1080P support!
Comment: Works great at all resolutions up to and including 1080i. Unfortunately does not work at all at 1080p (either with a ps3 or an upscaling panasonic dvd recorder - these both work fine with the free hdmi lead supplied with the virgin V+ box!).

Summary: If you think this works for your PS3 - think again!
Comment: If you have followed the instructions about turning on your PS3 and holding down the power button for the second beep then followed the on screen instructions and the picture appears - that's ok then? No its not, you are not seeing you pS3 in its best light with this cable it will set itself to a lower resolution and show a picture, but the quality is not there in the picture. Full HD is a resolution of 1920x1080 if your TV has this capability either at 1080i (lower quality) or 1080P (highest quality) this cable is not going to give you that resolution. It will allow the PS3 to set itself to 576p or maybe 760P both are lower quality at 576P you only get 720x576 and at 720P you only get 1280x720. You can check this by looking in the display menu of your PS3 in the system branch. The information will be in the form of 576P or 720P or 1080i or 1080P. Only if your TV has 1080 I or P otherwise this cable will do just fine. I replaced this cable (nearly took the TV back) with a much higher quality version and it works just fine in 1080P with Samsung Full HD TVs. It looks brilliant and what an excellent piece of kit the PS3 is.

Summary: toshiba
Comment: Just a quick note people, same goes for toshiba and sharp tv's. hdmi sockets are to recessed. Don't buy this cable. I nearly sent my PS3 back. PHEW.

Editorial Reviews:

Setting up your HDMI cable on your PS3 games console

1: Turn on your TV and set its input to HDMI.

2: Make sure your PS3 is connected via a HDMI cable.

3: Power on your PS3 and press and hold the power button for approx. 5 seconds, you will hear the PS3 start to beep, release the power button after the second beep.

4: Your PS3 should automatically configure itself for HDMI video and Audio output.

If you require any further information or help please refer to your PS3 instruction booklet or contact Sony customer services who will guide you through the setup of your console.

HDMI 1.3 Specification.

Higher speed: HDMI 1.3 supports the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions & Deep colour.

Deep colour: HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit colour depths. It lets HDTVs go from millions of colours to billions of colours giving unprecedented vividness and accuracy of colour. It eliminates on-screen colour banding, for smooth tonal transitions and gradations between colours, increased contrast ratio, and more shades of gray between black and white.

Broader colour space: HDMI 1.3 adds support for xvYCC (Extended YCC colourimetry for Video Applications) colour standard, which enables the display of any colour viewable by the human eye. It gives 1.8 times more colours than existing HDTV signals and displays colours more accurately, providing more natural & vivid colours.

Lip Sync: HDMI 1.3 incorporates automatic audio synching that allows devices to perform video and audio synchronization automatically with total accuracy in cases that would normally require complex end-user adjustments.

New HD lossless audio formats: Supports all currently-available formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS. It also adds support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
