Customer Rating: Summary: I have A good solution Comment: I play my PS3 EVERY DAY and it used to freeze very rarely.
Now it never does, because when my PS3 starts gasping a bit I turn on my normal every day (in the summer)
stand up fan (it cools your room too) pointing straight at my PS3 and my HD TV (which it also cools)
Customer Rating: Summary: NO POINT Comment: Firstly, i dont own the product, heres why, i have played 8hrs straight without any fan. and my ps3 is as healthy as ever. so why? manufacturers seem too have us confused with a certain xbox 360 "red ring of death" problem. think you need a fan? take it from me you don't. look at the other guy, the manufacterur prmises "peace of mind" yet it melts his ps3. noboody dhould consider this. get yourself a game instead.
Customer Rating: Summary: Has the world gone crazy? Comment: Hold on a minute here, I don't get this, why are people buying cooling fans for their PS3's?
Does the PS3 have any heat issues?
Listen, you are all voiding your warranties by adding these cooling fans to your PS3's and xBox 360's! Whats even worse is that most of them don't help cool your consoles at all, if anything there have been reports where consoles have over heated and even melted as a result of using these cooling fans.
I will not talk about the xBox 360 as most people already know about its heating issues, but the PS3 is very well made and has a really good cooling system! You'll notice that your PS3 releases a lot of heat, most people get worried by this but this is a good thing. This is an indication that the PS3's fans and other internal cooling systems are doing their job. Imagine if it didn't and all that heat was retained inside the PS3 even for 10 minutes? The PS3 would shut off automatically and if it didn't then it would melt! So its bloody good that it does release a lot oh heat. If it didn't then I'd be worried if I were you!
I've not yet heard of one complaint from anyone about the PS3 having heating issues and I would never use these cooling fans as they are made by third party companies and are not Sony approved.
If PS3's had a heating issue then its up to Sony to fix this. When you fork out something between £300-430 for a gaming console, you should not have to buy cooling fans to keep the bloody thing cool!
Anyway enough rumbling. The main thing here is that you will void your warranty if your system gets damaged as a result of using these cooling fans.
Just MAKE SURE you keep the PS3 in a well ventilated area away from heaters etc. DONT place your PS3 inside TV cabinets etc, where there's more likely to be less ventilation.
And you shall not have any issues with the PS3.
*** The new 40GB PS3 now has a 65nm cell processor instead of the 90nm cell processor used in the 60GB PS3's. This means that the 40GB PS3 will require less energy to run which means less heat, which in turn means less noise. I've got a 60GB PS3 and my friend has the newer 40GB one, and his is super quiet and doesn't seem to release much heat at all, unlike mine which is a bit more noisier than his and releases about twice the heat I'd say. Sony say that the 40GB PS3 is about 30% more efficient than the 60GB PS3.
At the end of the day, its better technology, latest technology and that's the way forward and so I shall follow. No backwards compatibility with PS2 games do I hear you say? Did you not have a PS2 before you bought the PS3 I reply! PS2 games will be extinct not so long from now!***
Customer Rating: Summary: dont bother buying Comment: all in all from the comments u can see this product is completely useless, in my opinion the best way to help your PS3 to stay cool is to keep it upright, this way the hot air rises to the top of it and is expelled a lot easier with the top fan, also make sure it has room and the heat doesn't conduct to say for example, DVD/Games cases, your storage unit whatever.. had lots of experience with stuff like this through my custom pc's
Customer Rating: Summary: More like a heating fan... Comment: When I 1st saw this product at my local GAME store, I thought; "Great! Something to help my PS3 to cool it's engines!" But I was wrong.
The 1st thing that really stunned me is this "cooling fan" fits at the back of the PS3. Why is it unusual? Because the only part of the PS3 that really burns up is the (right) side of the console, & I presume it would fit there instead.
Further problems persists when you safely attached the fan to the back of the console (troublesome as you gotta take out all the wires from the PS3 in order to securely click the fan, plus since the PS3 is quite heavy, it doesn't make it any easier). So to test the fan, inserted a game, barely 5mins in, the console starts breathing heavy air, then another few more minutes, you hear clicking sounds (like 2 plastic sticks batting each other) & to top everything off, the PS3 starts reaking out boiling plastic.
When I switch off my PS3, I checked the side of the console, it was BOILING. Worst than when I didn't attach the so-called cooling fan. When I detached the fan, it was reaked with the scent of burnt plastic.
I was unlucky that I can't return my shoddy product (you know those annoying refund guidelines, if you opened it, you can't return it), so my advice to you do not get this product & save yourself £15. It doesn't do your PS3 or your wallet any benefits what so ever...
