Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect pocket camera Comment: Bought this, matched to a Lowepro Napoli 5 case with an Extreme 3 SD card. What a superb combination! Great little camera that takes beautiful pictures. Up and ready to take a shot really really quick with plenty of features to get the perfect piccie. If you want loads of options without going through menus then perhaps you want a DSLR but for £100 you won't get a better quality package. Sure, some people go by "How many Megpixels is it?" but that is definitely not the whole story. This takes great shots. Used in all sorts of conditions and worked every time. Fits nicely in a pocket too, and the pouch is just the right size.
Customer Rating: Summary: Canon Ixus 70 Digital Camera Comment: I purchased this camera for use at work on the recommendation of a collegue. I've taken it home & played with it too. It's a brilliant little camera. I've not used it a great deal so haven't got to grips with it properly, but so far what pics i took were very good. It was also easy to download the pics onto the pc. My 12 yr old Daughter was snapping away with it too, and sussed out the video mode & shot some footage of our cat who was not amused at being filmed!. From what it's produced it's impressive, so much so that I'm going to buy one for myself!. They are coming down in price since i purchsed it before Xmas.It could do with a case tho', but then as someone else has pointed out it wouldn't fit so easily into a pocket.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just buy it now... Comment: I wanted to buy a camera, and as it was my first one, a friend of mine recommended 2 possible choices to me - this and a panasonic one...I went for this...
It is, so far, brilliant. Ive yet to use it extensivly, but by just shooting random objects it has proved itself greatly. The build quality and size strike you first as it seems very rugged but also in the same sense, stylish. It has many clever modes, and one thing that pleasnetly suprised me is hat when you put it up onto full zoom, not just 3x zoom, but passed that, the picure goes all hazy, but once you've taken the shot it is crystal clear, like you are standing right next to it...I'll have to upload some shots to prove my point...
I could go on and on for ages about this camera, but I'll stop here (as I have revison to do...) and just end with...just buy it now...:)
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice one Comment: It is very handy camera. Colours could not be that real. Espically indoor shots are almost perfect for this small camera. I definetly see that I have given right desicion to buy this camera. Economic and it does everything what you expect from a compact machine. Nice one... Strongly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Camera For My Young Lifestyle Comment: When I recieved the ixus I was pleased with its overall image, with the black rim and lens making it look very hip.
The buttons on the back are not quite as fancy as some of the other compact canons aas the whole surface has a matte finish.
The buttons are fairly large and easy to press.
It is very very slim too and fairly light. It allows you to fit it into your pocket easily without noticing it all tthat much. I however keep it in the canon leather case which is a nice good quality case, however it makes it almost twice as thick in depth.
Now to the FUNCTIONALITY!!!!
It takes a very quick picture. You have to focus it before you take the p;icture which is fine most of the time until it doesn't focus which in turn makes it not shoot. The pictures are very nice quality and are nice and vibrant. Having the capabilites of 7mp does improve the image quality when compared to a camera which has 5mp.
The macro funtion is good, and the other differnt taking modes are good also.
The video funtion is great working at 30 frames per second. On the player itself it allows you to view and edit the videos. This involves cutting the video to the wright length. It also allows you to play the video back in slow motion at your chosen speed which is great when reviewing sporting activies like my golf swing.
The flash on the camera is very bright making night pictures very clear and light, which is good most of the time.
The whole functionallity of the camera is very quick and impressive.
I have seen a number of my freinds cameras including my parents and the Canon cameras are clearly the easiest to use and pick up the hang of.
If your looking for something a little bit cooler and slighly classier the Canon Ixus 75 is at a great price at the moment £130!! It is has slighly more depth but this is only because of the curves. It holds all tghe features of the 70 + a few more. It also has a nice 3 inch screen compared to the 2.5. inch on the Ixus 70. And the back is more glossy and professional.
There are 2 main flaws to the camera:
1. There is no visible battery metre on the camera, however it does tell u when its renning low giving you about 10 minutes of use.
2. When it is plugged into the computer the camera runs off its own battery using just as much energy up as it would when in normal use, you don't have to have it in the computer for long though, 5-10 minutes max.
Overall Its a great camera but if you're looking for something a little bit more impressive in looks and quality I would go for the CANON IXUS 75 which is only £10 more expensive at £130.

Canon has launched a digital camera with the flattest zoom the Japanese retailer has ever built, at less than an inch thick. The Digital Ixus 70 digital camera is a combination of style and power. The Digital Ixus 70 provides you with the latest technologies, including an in-built DIGIC III image processor. You're guaranteed beautiful photos every time, thanks to its 7-megapixel CCD sensor. Whether you're taking pictures in soft lighting, at a concert or in dimly-lit interiors, nothing will escape the Digital Ixus 70 digital camera thanks to its 1600 ISO sensitivity. With its different flash modes, you wont have to worry about blinding your subjects, and you can even eliminate red-eye effects with the touch of a button. But the Digital Ixus 70 doesnt stop there; it also includes a face-detection function that recognises up to 9 faces for perfect, colourful, clear pictures every time. The Digital Ixus 70 also includes a video recording mode with sound, letting you take up to 1-hour video sequences in 640 x 480 resolution at 30 images per second on an SD high-capacity memory card. The Ixus 70 will bring style and digital performance to your photos.
