Summary: Philips PET 704 Region 'O' unlock instructions
Comment: Philips PET 704 - Good little unit, easy to use. I have made mine region '0' using the unlock instructions below
1) Open the tray (no power on) and make sure there is no disc in the player
2) Whilst the tray is still open, hold down the 'Menu' key on the player (not the remote)
3) Press the 'Power' button and continue to hold down the 'Menu' key
4) The Region Code menu will appear and you can set anything from 0-6 using the remote
5) Once the region is showing what you want it to, power off and it's done!
Hope that this is of use to many others.

Summary: Making it multi-region- Works as well!!
Comment: Having had the DVD Player for about a month I decided I needed to make it multi-region, to play other region discs I own.

This is the procedure I carried out and made my player region free:

1. Power on DVD without a disc in the player.
2. Press SETUP on the remote.
3. Press 'Right arrow' on the remote 3 times.
4. Press 9, 6, 5 & 3 on the remote.
5. Press up/down to change region of player. Set to 0 (Zero) for region-free.
6. Press SETUP to exit.

Job's a good un!

Summary: CRACK LITTLE DVD PLAYER
Comment: Received the DVD player as a christmas gift from my wife. A big mistake on her behalf. NO it's not a bad product, far from it is great quality item. The mistake is that I now stick my headphone on plug in and switch of to one of my own DVDs, very unsociable (but I love my own time).

* Really clear screen
* Feels well built
* Good sound through my earphones (plenty of volume and clarity)
* Good quality remote contol

If I really look for a fault maybe a bigger screen would be nice but then no it would be more bulky and I can watch it from 6 foot away on the 7" screen. So faultless so far and I suspect for quite a while to come.

Summary: All round good value for price
Comment: This model has excellent looks and is great value for money - the best there is for the price, its a reliable make and I will always go back and buy the Philips portable DVD's. Sound quality and picture is good too.
(Previously had the silver 7inch model which withstood 3 years of toddlers and children usage, finally broke when one of my children stood on the screen, otherwise would have kept going!)

Editorial Reviews:

Sit back, relax and watch movies on the go on the 7" TFT LCD display of the Philips PET704. Enjoy your favourite DVD movies, MP3-CD and CD music, or admire your JPEG photos anytime, anyplace.
