Summary: First time using Sat Nav, it works!!
Comment: I bought into Sat Nav on a recent trip to the South East of England.

I'd never used one before. Having to make the trip up to Holyhead, Wales to get the Ferry to Dublin, I thought I try one, the Garmin Nuvi 250.

Switch it on, read the safety warning and tell it where you want to go and start driving.

This made my approx. 5 hour journey so much more easy and stress free.

I now rely on it for long journeys or even shorter ones where it pin points an address for you.

Ps. It's a well built, nice looking little unit with a less conspicuous mount than most. The nice name 'Garmin' says it all compared to the names of other brands that sounded a bit iffy.

Summary: Too easy!
Comment: Hi
I have had a reasonable amount of experience using a few different Garmin sat navs. I took the plunge on the Nuvi 250 as the price had dropped below the £100 mark & i figured that I could afford to lose that much if it was useless. Good news - it's great. It may not have some of the features of the more expensive models such as Bluetooth comms, but if you want a basic sat nav which can get you from A to B, this has to be on your short list. When you consider that it comes with a speed camera database (£30 to update it for the next 12 months) and has various points of interest pre-loaded it really is a no-brainer. I gave it to my wife & she really is a luddite when it comes to technology but she managed to find her way home ;-) Look, if you don't like it, you can always put it on Ebay & get rid. I don't think you will though.

Summary: Good european mapping
Comment: Bought this about 6 months ago and have so far used it all over the UK, in Norway, France, Spain and Majorca.

It's very easy to use and has some handy features. The one which allows you to view the map, zoom in, put the arrow on exactly where you want to go and simply press the "Go" button, is excellent; it makes touring abroad a doddle.

The maps seem to be pretty much up to date, and go right down to residential street level in all the countries I've visited so far. Other than the very rare detour down a narrow country road when staying on the main road might have been better, it's always got me where I needed to be and told me exactly when I'm going to get there.

The unit fits nicely in a pocket and a recharge lasts long enough to allow you to make several short trips without having to worry about plugging it into the lighter socket.
All the maps and POIs are pre-loaded, including safety cameras abroad.

Given the above features, the mapping included, the quality and the price, I'd definitely recommend this unit to anyone.

Summary: Great on first use without time to "play" ...
Comment: The only reason I don't give the garmin nuvi 250 5 out of 5 is because I can't compare it to others as it's my first satnav device. I needed it for a trip to the Isle of Wight and I must say it impressed me once I got used to using it. I dont like the fact that you can only add ONE stop point as this make it difficult to plan a route if you know various points you definately want to pass thru without having to add them enroute (apart from the fact that it contradicts the statement not to use the device while driving when your via point is a motorway overpass) :) But I can live with this and it greatly reduces the need for those paper maps and the brill update on speedcams and speed limits on some roads was great! My wife and I muted that voice the second we heard the first "Turn Left" but it did not take away from the use and I think it will stay off permanently :) It did well in the IoW and back again which was a good test for the future ... 4/5 well deserved.
