Customer Rating: Summary: Great for tennis, sideways and more - shame about Golf! Comment: Powerplay distribute the Competition Pro branded range of Wii accessories that are made in China from average quality white plastic. In the box:
1 x textured grip handle that can be used with either the tennis, baseball and golf attachments. A normal Wii controller fits inside snugly and comes out very easily. There are holes to channel the strap so that you can still play safley. All the attachments screw in tightly so there is no risk of the unit falling apart during play.
1 x remote strap which is of inferior quality to the Nintendo strap but is would probably be okay if something happened to your official one. Most types of straps would work with this sports pack.
1 x tennis attacment which is my favorite part as the extended length of the controller improves my Wii Sports stroke precision. The net is made of a flexible mesh so makes a genuine swooping sound. It is also worth noting that Powerplay sell a doublepack of these tennis attacments with grip handles for 2 players (this might be a better option for some people). This is by far and away the best tennis attachment that I can currently find.
1 x baseball attachment which is made of thick solid plastic. It adds a sense of fun but seems to reduce my Wii Sports accuracy. Maybe it's just me. Would also be good for clonking a burgular over the head to stop them stealing your Wii console.
1 x extendable golf attachment which is of tacky quality and adds no value to excellent Wii Sports game. It is a waste of natural resouces and will probably get thrown away next time I have a clearout.
1 x wheel is useful for games where you need to hold the Wii controller sideways which is otherwise an unnatural position. Again a normal Wii controller fits inside snugly and comes out very easily. There are holes to channel the strap to get it out the way. While thw wheel is good and helpful I have seen nicer ones for sale at a higher price.
It is worth noting that these sets block the controller black comm port at the front. This limits your ability to use the pointer function. However once into the Wii Sports game everything can be achieved by using the 4 directional arrow buttons on the controller. It is also woth noting that all the controller buttons (including B underneath) are accessable when playing. So in conclusion it is my view that this set is worth £10 for the grip handle, spare strap, tennis attachment and wheel. The baseball attachemnt is ok and the golf attachemnt is nasty. As such I rate it 4 out of 5.
Customer Rating: Summary: Manufacturing Defect ? Comment: Received 2 of these today... great fun... BUT... either I am an idiot or the manufacturer is. The golf club attachment blade is out by 90 degrees such that you have to strike the ball with the back of the club. Makes you think the remote is not acting correctly if you hold it so it looks right. Return or hacksaw and super glue. Let the nation decide.
