Summary: All about it
Comment: Very good camera. The picture quality is excellent. Very easy to use. Different settings means that you can capture great pictures of almost anything.
A few things to be noted:
- Battery life isn't great, It can take about 100 photos
- A dock for it to charge on, which is a pain for traveling with
- 180minutes to fully charge
- Photos (on finest quality) are about 10mb. A 4GB SDHC card holds about 500 (on fine mode) and about 1000 on normal quality mode.
- The video quality is very good
- 3x optical zoom (which isn't much) but also works for the video camera
- Very big screen, fills almost all of the back on the camera.
- Recommend having a camera case for it... the small leather one, which is actually designed for other casio cameras fits it nicely, well worth £16.99 ( search amazon for 'Casio Leather Case for EX-Z75, EX-Z1050, EX-Z70, EX-Z700, EX-Z1000, EX-Z850, EX-Z600, EX-Z60, EX-Z750 ')
- MUST have a memory card, 4gb is a good idea.
- Only takes about 1 - 1 1/ 2 seconds to turn on and off: perfect for quick pictures
- Very small, easily fits in your pocket
- 12.1 mega pixels, brilliant.

Summary: Excellent Camera
Comment: I recently acquired this compact as a 'social photography' camera with the capability to function as a good camera when I've left my DSLR somewhere. I did a lot of research into a whole range of cameras and came up with this vs. the Pentax A40. This was £20 cheaper, (although the pentax has slightly better lens quality) so there we are! My main priorities were speed (especially in dim light) and quality, and this camera provides plenty of both. Flash charge time is rapid and autofocus, even in darkness, is swift and effective. Photo quality even at the highest ISO setting (400 - not high, but any higher and the photo would begin to degrade rapidly and many cameras which advertise 'ISO 3200' or similar do not produce usable photos at this level) is excellent and the 12 megapixels mean you can zoom in in detail which it is not actually possible to see with the naked eye!

Image stabilisation is mechanical (not ISO based, which is a poor method of reducing camera shake) and very effective - you can use the demo mode to see just what an impact it has on the photo. The menu interface is very simple and intuitive, and contains a wealth of options including a (limited) manual mode (max or min. aperture, shutter speed from 1/2000 to 30").

One reviewer said it was not possible to save settings from the camera once turned off - this is incorrect and can be changed in the 'memory' section of the options. You can choose which settings you want saved to be identical when you turn the camera on again.

Internal memory is useless because of the limit in size. Buy a SD card - I use a 2GB card which gives around 250 photos although this camera will accept SDHC cards if more space is required. Battery life is excellent, although this camera charges from a USB cradle which may be inconvenient if you are on the go for extended periods. Charging is relatively quick and the cradle also allows direct upload to a computer just by putting the camera in and pressing the 'USB' key.

This is an excellent camera with a high build quality, heaps of style, useful features, a broad base of options and produces brilliant pictures straight out of the box. High quality, large and clear photos with something this size means this is a camera to be respected. My full recommendation.

Summary: Overexposure 2
Comment: I'd agree with Mr B from Hackney. This camera's fault is that it doesn't seem to retain any settings from previous use and has to be reset for every photograph. A pain in the neck if you are wanting to "catch a moment". A few of my photos of my friend's wedding at the weekend were ruined due to over exposure. The instruction manual is worse that useless. Another downside is the docking station for connecting to computer and mains for charging. This is the first camera I've had that has had a docking station. It just seems unnecessary extra kit to carry around.

On the plus side, photos from this camera are clear even when enlarged to poster size, and the antishake is a great feature. Especially after a few at said wedding! Also it's size is a plus. Very small but solid and fits into a small handbag or pocket easily. I bought the black version which looks very good. I also got the same version with 10mp for my daughter in pink, which, despite a lot of banging around hasn't got a mark on it. Full marks for durability of the case

Summary: Fantastic
Comment: I love cameras! I have had a few but really needed a compact one to take on trips and even just to the park with the kids. I bought this one based on the great ratings on many websites and i definitely have not been disappointed. I have owned the camera for about 6 months now and am SUPER HAPPY with it. It has now been half way around the world with me. The battery life is great. The quality of the photos are great. The 12mp is wonderful for cropping which i seem to do a bit of. I tend to keep it in my handbag quite a bit so now have many candid snap shots....much better than the 3mp on my mobile phone camera. It takes beautiful night shots! I have been asked so many times what camera i use by friends after they see some photos.

I know there are so many choices out there for cameras - I am 100% pleased that i chose this one.

Summary: Grainy - NOT
Comment: I have come from a Canon 300D 6MP, I wanted something more practical to carry about with me. Yes its small and a good LCD Screen, I have only used it indoors in a naturally well lit room but I find the picture is somewhat grainy compared to my Canon above. Maybe all these small camera's are of this quality so I cannot compare but I am somewhat disappointed. I think outside it will be acceptable. I shall be keeping it but cannot recommend at this price for this poor indoor quality. XXXXXXXXXXXX OOPS I have got it all wrong, I had not played with the settings, the pictures are good in all conditions and especially seem to have life like colours,I would definitely recommend this camera now, only gripe is the manual, it does not explain all the settings. FIVE STARS NOW PLS

Editorial Reviews:

With its unique and stylish design, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z1200 digital camera from Casio is a treasure chest of photo technology that will give a boost to your passion for photography without sacrificing its ultra-compact format. This little gem, with its steel casing, includes an exceptional 12-million pixel CCD sensor and a 3x optical zoom, to give you true-to-life images. For high-quality clarity, the EX-Z1200 includes a quadruple image stabilisation solution (including one dedicated to video). The mechanical stabilisation system compensates for camera movement by sensor bypassing. Motion Analysis technology automatically analyses the subjects speed and direction of movement, and adapts the ISO sensibility and posing time accordingly. Plus, the Anti-Shake DSP reduces blurring problems related to quivering hands or subject movement. By combining the capacities of all of these elements with the speed of the Exilim Engine 2.0 image processor, the Casio EX-Z1200 offers fantastic photo renderings. Among its other features, photographers will swoon over the large 2.8 LCD screen, the MPEG4-H264 video function, the face-recognition function, the 39 pre-programmed scene modes, the 3 images/sec burst mode, and a battery life that lasts for 340 photos. Dedicated to quality and user comfort, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z1200 is a true concentration of technology that fits right in your pocket!
