Customer Rating: Summary: Great Laptop shame about webcam/vista problem Comment: I consider myself to be fairly techie and have liked acer laptops for the last 4 years. 5633 is my 2nd one. I was quite excited about the builtin webcam. Little did I know that its quite moody and works when it likes to. 4 months from purchase it worked on and off and now its permanently off. Have wasted a lot of time on message boards, contacting acer, registering for windows updates etc.
Apart from that I have no problem, looks great, very good battery life, and all component parts work like it says on the tin.
Customer Rating: Summary: poor screen resolution Comment: I am only disappointed with the maximum resolution for this laptop. The maximum is 1200 x 800, where as older brands(but different) have maximum resolutions as high as 1400 x 1050. And it has a bluetooth button which doesn't work. Also not sure if the Windows Vista Upgrade Disc is what Amazon refers to as the Recovery disc. but everything else is worth the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good for the price Comment: Got this direct from Amazon for £450 last week - price seems to be all over the place ! Went down another £10 immediately after I bought it, but now up to £500 ?!
Brilliant value for money at what I paid. Not much that I'd grumble about that isn't related to Vista O/S rather than the hardware, but even Vista isn't quite as bad as I imagined, coming from XP. Screen is pretty damn good, keyboard is fine for a non touch-typer like me.
Only thing I'm not happy with is the LAN port machanism - a std wired LAN connector doesn't latch in properly on mine, so the connection keeps dropping - but I'm using the wireless connctivity anyway, so I can live with that.
Customer Rating: Summary: be carefull Comment: it will be depatched immediately but it will come with an user name and you have to use a password witch nobody botheres to give it to you!
contact the seller ?
no way!
so you want to purchase maybe all,but esspecialy this one, be carefull!
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful laptop but the keyboard... Comment: The laptop comes with a wonderful screen, robust frame, 2 GB of memory and a powerful cpu. For 500 quid (now even less) you couldn't ask for more, but...!
The keyboard is the main disappointment; Acer should really think of making better ones!
I had this model for only 6 days (then returned) and I felt that all the buttons were about to pop out...don't they know that changing a keyboard on a laptop is not that easy and it doesn't take a simple trip to your local computer store to get a new one?
I wonder if they are implementing new keyboards in their new "Stylis Gemstone Design" laptops.
