Customer Rating: Summary: Slow, noisy and expensive to run Comment: I have used this product for 2 weeks, printed 4 photos and 10 letters. The black ink cartridge is already down to half full. I am happy with the printing quality, but it is soooo slow. Put into print, and then go and make yourself a cuppa. I mean, the 1st photo I did, I thought there was a problem with the printer feeder because I couldn't see the paper moving through.
The initial printer set up was straight forward.
I would not recommend this product. There are good reasons why it is so cheap.
Customer Rating: Summary: Complete rubbish... Comment: I strongly advise against buying this 3 in 1 printer, it's the biggest piece of cr*p I've ever owned!
It won't scan and print at the same time.
The biggest problem is getting it to accept 3rd party inc cartridges - even the highest quality ones - it will print part of a page and then reject one or more of the cartridges which becomes very frustrating and expensive.
Unless the print-out is set to very nearly the highest setting; photo/premium glossy paper the printer produces blacks that are blue (even on the highest settings it's a bit hit or miss) which wastes even more ink!
When it works it works quite well but at a rate of 1 usable print for 2 or 3 rejects it's hardly worth the effort!
Even one star is one too many!
Customer Rating: Summary: waste of ink, paper, time, money! Comment: I bought this machine today at a very cheap price expecting it to be an equal or better to my 3 yr old DX3850 which I had paid £50 for when new. As with most technology which gets better and cheaper with time, I hoped for better, but expected at least equal results... WRONG!!!
The printer is clunky, noisy, bulkier than my old one and when it came to printing, the colour was appalling, very dull despite it claiming to be DURABRITE ULTRA, the same inks used in my old printer. The picture was grainier than my old one, the colours were worse and there was even dotted 'score' marks where the printer had fed the paper through. I was lucky to be able to A/B test the printer next to my existing one and despite setting both on the same setting, highest photo quality, good paper etc, the results were worlds apart. My old printer is even using cheap compatible inks at less than £1 each and still giving superior results. I will be going back to Asda on my way home to return the printer and get my £25 back - may not sound much but its vastly overpriced at that!! I'm now going to look for a used dx3850!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Absolute Dog of a printer Comment: By far the worst printer I have ever had, a complete dog of a machine. I am very supprsed that you can buy a printer of this low quality from Epson, they are putting a lot at risk selling this machine.
I have not found anything good about it, I have not found the printing to be of a decent quality which is the main thing you want from a printer, you have agro even trying to load the paper into it half the time, and as for the ink, you find yourself throwing away over half full cartridges because the printer says they are empty, for this reason alone I have thrown my DX4400 away and I only bought it 6 weeks ago, I also had a lot of trouble trying to use Non Original Epson cartridges in it.
I have owned several Epson printers over the years but that was the last one I will ever buy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Epson again Comment: When the time came to replace my printer I looked at the reviews and I was surprised by the adverse comments on the DX4400. Despite these I went ahead and bought it - 5 stars to Amazon for their v. fast and efficient service. The DX is a little noisier than my last Epson but nothing to complain about. Touch wood the initial cartridges are still going strong, installation was easy and | am satisfied with my purchase
