Summary: So good so far
Comment: I ordered this printer only a day ago and already it has arrived!

I was impressed how easy it was to set up. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with Windows Vista and AOL Wireless Broadband. I was sat on the lounge floor and away i went.

All you have to do is get the printer out of the box (don't do anything else). Put the installation CD in your computer and follow all the on screen prompts, which provides diograms to show you how to set up the printer. You don't need any USB cables if you intend on using wireless connection. The printer comes with a cable to get you going. Ink is inlcuded and you need your own paper.

Yes it did take me 25mins to fully install the printer from taking it out of the box, but i didn't find the actual installation too long. Maybe some people don't have a high-speed CD drive or high spec computer, which is why it maybe taking a little longer for them. I don't have the best laptop by any means, but i was quite happy with the speed.

I followed all the guides on the cd and i'm now printing quite happily. The speed of the printer in black and white is amazing! It does a test page for you and the colour page it printed was very good!!! I've yet to try a whole page in colour as i'm concious of some comments that the printer is ink thirsty, but like i said, the test colour page was great.

I have now un-plugged the printer from the floor and put it on the sideboard and turned it back on and it's still working fine... fingers crossed.

I've yet to use the copying and scanning facility, but it all seems pretty straight forward to me.

I saw the printer in Tesco before i bought it and thought it looked cheap, but for the money it's not bad at all and i reckon value for money.

I've given the printer 5 stars. I was so aprehensive about some of the commets people have written before i bought this printer, but i'm glad i did.

Summary: Absolutely compatable with the BT Home Hub and Vista home premium
Comment: I don't know how the previous reviewer with the BT Home hub has their wireless network set up but it is quite obviously wrong neither do I understand what the problem was with the reviewer who could'nt set it up with Windows Vista Home Premium. I nearly did'nt buy this printer because of those two reviews and I would now be missing out on a fabulous printer that works brilliantly with both. I am certainly no expert in setting up anything it is just trial and error as with most people but I had it up and running in a matter of 15 minutes from start to finish, the disc went in I followed the on screen instructions and off it went finding my home network ( BT Home Hub )almost instantly and that was on my Windows Vista Home premium Laptop as well as on my Windows XP Proffesional desktop so please don't believe everything you read or like me you could end up almost missing out too it is worth every penny and more in my opinion, you really won't be disappointed.

Summary: Would be nice to get it working ...
Comment: I note that a lot of people are positive about this printer.

However the one I bought has a power problem and cuts off (powers itself off) after about 5 seconds. Not very encouraging. Searching the web shows other people reporting a similar problem - so there are some dud power units in circulation.

Summary: Beware - Ink Binger and Lexmark Only Cartridges!
Comment: Had a lot of problems setting this up as USB, but finally managed it - some USB drivers were missing. Wireless worked well though.
However - it's an Inkoholic in terms of ink usage. No issue I thought, as I buy the ink refill kits for under a tenner that will fill at least three times.
This worked for a while when the printer driver said the ink was low and it allows you to force a print for a while. But after a few more prints it cancels every print job you send and will not let you continue - "helpfully" providing you with a link to purchase ink from Lexmark. I haven't found any cheaper compatibles and have not found a cartridge resetter like you can get with Epsons.
Hence beware - nice product, but there's a reason it's so cheap to buy - it's cost you £25 per time to refill the inks.

Comment: Love this printer and i cant fault it. Works with my laptop with vista os and set up like a dream. im no "techie" either so was pleased to see step by step instructions to set up even down to "remove unit from box". my best value for money purchase for a long time ...
