Customer Rating: Summary: Great product Comment: I was really pleased with this radio. It seems nice and solidly built, the wooden case looks like it could be real wood to me , or if it is simulated then it is very good. The sensitivity is also very good - it works in places where the Logic unit (that they sell in Currys etc) does not work. However it does not work everywhere in our house as we have thick stone walls.
Set-up was pretty straightforward as long as you are familiar with the concept of entering your WiFi router WEP/WPA key. One anomaly I noticed during set-up was that it reported "low signal" even 1m away from my router. However when I granted MAC access to it in the router , then that message went away.
The one downside is the audio quality of the speaker. It is fine as a bedside/kitchen radio, but don't expect crystal clear Bose-like quality. It essentially sounds like medium wave (but not in a bad way!). This is only a limitation of the loudspeaker - when you plug headphones in the quality sounds very good (and stereo I think).
Overall though it is very good and I'd recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bought it for French Radio Comment: I bought this for Christmas (2008) for my French wife. For years she listened to France Inter on Long Wave, then we got new neighbours. They have some appliance that interferes with all AM stations making distant stations unlistenable.
Now she can listen without interference to Inter, Radio Bleu La Rochelle, Nostalgie, or any other French station that takes her fancy. She is delighted. I also have BBC Radio 4 as a favourite, so I can listen when she is not around - she has become very protective of her radio. I might have to buy one for myself.
I almost missed out on it though. I saw it on Amazon, did some research, decided the GX was the one to buy, then found that Amazon had sold out. I checked back every day until I saw they had a few more in stock and ordered immediately. Glad I did. I see they are out of stock again. Grab one when you can.
4 stars because the remote is next to useless. Luckily most functions can be accessed from the radio itself.
I only wonder what happens if Reciva goes off air. Do we lose all our "stuff" and the ability to select a new station? Presumably existing ones progammed into the radio keep working.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great bit of kit, a must have!! Comment: I purchased this for my wife as a Christmas present and read a lot of reviews before I purchased this model. I did doubt my choice as I had read very mixed reviews.
I have to say I am very happy with my choice. Such a huge range of stations are available from near enough any country in the world. My wife is from Russa and there are 350 russian stations alone and thousands more stations in different countries.
The set up was extreemly easy and took me no more than 5 minutes. Plug in, select wireless network, enter WPA key and your ready to go.
There is a remote with this which is not so great and its quicker to get up and scroll through the stations with the knob but it works best for volume control and selected preset stations.
The unit has one speaker and it has pretty decent sound for that. Its no hifi and if you are after some really special sound then this is not for you. We have ours set up in our living room and it plays very clearly at normal listening level and sounds very good.
This really is a great bit of kit and a must have!!
Customer Rating: Summary: First time internet radio buyer!! Comment: The GX 01 is a really good well priced - I paid £48 - intro to internet radio - this unit is easy to set up as long as you are in range of your wireless network - all you need is your security encription code and you are away!!
There is a short gap between station select and the music coming through but this is the system buffering to ensure an uninterrupted signal.
The radio works well and can be used without additional speakers - but I run through LOGITECH Z4 amp/ speakers - around £40 and 80 watts! - for a really good sound!!
The best thing is you can steer clear of samey UK stations with tedious DJs - many internet stations are ad and dj free. Internet radio is the future and with the huge choice surely will eventually get the better of DAB.
I recommend this unit highly!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good technology poor sound quality Comment: I am impressed with robust build and good technology. Quality of sound does not seem as good as it should. Condidering digital sound and large speaker it should treble/base adjustment.
I do not understand why it does not have a rechargeable battery built in. It cant get any heavier than it is.

After announcing in its last fiscal year Apple had sold almost 10 million Macs, Apple announced at Macworld today the launch of iLive '09, and it includes a new version of iPhoto.
iPhoto now lets users organise photos using face-detection technology. After detecting a face, users can tag it with a name, then browse other photos featuring the same face. Should iPhoto get it wrong, you can tell it so, and remove the wrong person's photo from the list.
Also new in iPhoto is the ability to organise pictures by their location. So if your photos are geotagged with GPS location information -- say, Paris -- iPhoto will let you browse all the photos you've taken in Paris. No geotagged photos? No worries, since you can add place names yourself.
And with integration with Facebook and Flickr, photos tagged with your friends' names bring their tags with them when synced and downloaded to iPhoto.
