Customer Rating: Summary: Does a good job Comment: I have two of the 250GB model on the go, one backing up a Sony Vaio laptop (weekly) and one backing up a new iMac on its 'Time Machine' every hour on the hour. They have been humming away in the background for about two months without any problems so far. My rating reflects experience to date.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does what it says on the tin... Comment: I've got this and a smaller version of a Freecom hard drive.
Both have been a doddle to install, look good and have given me no problems whatsoever.
For the price I don't think you can go wrong with one of these.
Customer Rating: Summary: Five star can't fault it! Comment: I've used a number of Freecom devices, In my office we have 6 of these 250gb models in use 9 - 5.30, 5 days a week and touch wood no problems to report.
Hard drives can fail or pack up at any time without warning, knowing that Freecom has UK based support gives me peace of mind that any problems i may have will quickly be resolved.
Customer Rating: Summary: In the long run, unreliable Comment: I've the 160GB version and after about 2 years and two months it's packed up - which I don't think is that long a product-life. It's been stored at the back of the PC but with plenty of air and no movement at all - so it's not been mistreated or damaged. I used this as the backup for my data. Fortunately the PC is fine so I'll look to replace the Freecom with some other make - definitely not another Freecom.
Customer Rating: Summary: Freeecom Classic HD Comment: The Freecom Classic HD drive is fine when it works, but we have had two fail, one after 12 months and its replacement after 2 years. It's impossible to recommend any Freecom drive on that basis.
Freecom support is extremely helpful and quick, but their 'Returns' department is unyielding, sticking to the warranty terms of 'two years from original purchase', regardless of the case. They seem to be more worried that they 'can't take this product back as we would not be credited by our supplier.' I thought they qwere the supplier! Draw your own conclusion. We have bought a Seagate unit instead.
