Summary: Poor value
Comment: Don't even think of buying this. The traffic feature hardly works in the UK. Mine ran out of memory before completing installation of maps.Updated maps are aBOUT £60. The Garmin nuovo series blows this away. The online support is dreadful - I spent hours following the instructions which didn't work, then was offerred a return but the return envelope required never arrived. Brilliant Amazon have promised a full refund.
LATER - Amazon refunded in full. Still trying to get refund of £19.95 for camera data which never loaded into the Tomtom for lack of memory. Refund refused because I failed to return this [downloaded] product within 7 days [while I tried to follow their repair instructions. Don't buy from what appears to be a thoroughly dishonest manufacturer.

Summary: Don't buy if you have a Mac
Comment: Do not buy this product if you have a Mac as the support team only have Windows tools to fix problems. I bought a new map but after installing it the device is "unable to store settings: file access error". The only solution from TomTom is to plug the device into a Windows PC and run a Windows exe. So I'm stuck with a device that either won't work or works with an out-of-date map. AVOID.

Summary: TomTom good, traffic bad!
Comment: Like the previous reviewer I think the TomTom itself is good, but while I am able to get a good signal on the traffic receiver, I tend not to get any good traffic information. To be fair I was using this over the Christmas holidays and the traffic info comes from local radio stations so perhaps the radio stations were understaffed and not updating.

Summary: RDS/TMC Traffic Doesn't Work!
Comment: I've just upgraded from my tomtom v1 to the newer v3, primarily because of the traffic feature. Pricewise the tomtom traffic seems to make more sense than paying a monthly subscription for traffic on a bluetooth tomtom.

The problem is that the aerial doesn't pick up a good enough signal (the uk transmitters are not strong enough)basically making the 'traffic' part of the tomtom useless! There's loads of people complaining about this issue with tomtom - check out pocketgpsworld and look at their forums on this issue, 100's of people with the same problem - can't get a good signal to recieve the traffic information.

Other than the traffic issue the unit works flawlessly, i particularly like the map corrections and where you can give names to roads that are listed as 'unknown road' - very good feature.

In conclusion if you dont want the traffic, buy the cheaper standard europe model, if you do want the traffic buy the bluetooth version and pay your monthly subscription.

Hope this helps your purchase ;-)
