Customer Rating: Summary: First Impressions Comment: Very please with My Book as an external hard drive but not so please with supplied software. Paid significantly more for this product over the price of equivalent "Essential" EHD so as to get the automatic back-up software. Once downloaded this software did required back-up and as promised continued to keep tabs on what was happening so backing up as it went along. However system was so so slow. After matter of days had to remove and back-up by drag and drop. By slow I mean very very slow. So slow that it could not log on to internet. Once removed all back to normal broadband speeds. So my recommendation - If you want back-up buy the cheaper "Essential" product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Good HDD overall Comment: So far only using the external HDD as a backup drive, and so far so good, managed to copy under 200 GB in a few hours using USB 2.0, not tried the firewire nor the esata connections yet. It's also not too big nor too heavy (slightly bigger than a thick book that I'm reading at the moment) which is good.
My only gripes so far are the fact that I'll have to buy my own esata cable, which over here isn't in great supply yet, and the trial software bundled in with the HDD. Fortunately I have no actual need for the software as I can use the existing windows interfaces to do what I need. I would have liked to pay more if I could have got an esata cable bundled in with the HDD (the reason for the 4 stars) but now I'll have to try and find a place that has a specific cable in stock.
