Customer Rating: Summary: Neat Unit Comment: I bought this so we could charge 2 controllers whilst sitting at the computer - not as most people here have done ie plugged into the PS3. As the computer is on more than the PS3 it seemed more sensible to use it's power.
The unit is small and compact and works well. I've had no problems charging from the PC. As soon as the controllers are fully charged I remove them from the dock and pop it away. It only takes about an hour and a half to charge two which is great. Also it means I don't have to have the silly short-length usb wire that came with the PS3 in the way.
Definitely good value for money if you buy with something else and get free delivery.
Customer Rating: Summary: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - SAVE YOUR MONEY !!!! Comment: If you want something that will compliment your beautiful, powerful playstation 3, that will lovingly cradle the controller, cherish, nourish it! - Then DO NOT BUY THIS !
Old saying - a fool with loose change is soon parted !
Customer Rating: Summary: Great accessory Comment: the blue lights on mine is a bit weak but what amazed me the most is using either mirrors or small solar cells/gates to show the charge state.
So if your controller is charging the bar flashes as you would expect on a regular usb cable on the ps3, when fully charged it stops flashing, if you press the PS button and then put it in the dock the bar will flash at one point like on the controller.
Ingenious!
There may be problems with killing/damaging/shortening the battery in the controller but i haven't noticed/had these problems.
If anyone does leave controllers on there for extended periods of time (like days) with the ps3 on and off can you state any affects such as discharging/battery life loss etc?
Customer Rating: Summary: a good piece of kit Comment: This does what it says on the tin. The dock allows the charging of two controllers while the PS3 is turned on.
It also doubles up as a place to store the controllers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very usefull Comment: This docking station give a tidy place to store your controllers. Plus charges the controllers when the PS3 is switched on. This works fine for me, as one controller can be charged when playing 1 player games. ie one controler is left in the docking station. Also I have the bluetooth remote control, so when watching films or downloading demos etc. both controllers are kept topped up.
As for comments about the flashing lights, well this is optional. Simply press the button on the docking station and they can be on or off, but the controllers still charge in either state...
Another advantage is this is a tidy solution, so the wire can be hidden permanently and just have the docking station available for storing and charging the controllers.
Rather than having a loose USB cable and no where tidy to place the controllers when charging..
Finally this station means two controllers get charged off one USB port, so if like me, you have a 40Gb PS3 and you only have 2 USB ports, this is great.
