Customer Rating: Summary: Wii are Having Fun Racing! Comment: After playing this game on my friend's Wii, I went out and bought a Wii and this game. That's how much I enjoyed it.
I have the original Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo. The basic game play is pretty much the same. You are controlling one of the characters from the Mario universe as you attempt to race around tracks and win. Along the way, you can pick up power ups to help you or hinder your opponents. Of course, that means they can attack you as well, so watch out.
With this incarnation, you've got 32 courses to play. You start out with half of them available and earn the other half as you win races. They include fun new courses created for this version as well as the best of the courses from the older incarnations of this game.
This game can be played by one person or up to four people, each needing their own controllers. Naturally, with four players, the screen becomes smaller, so you'd want to have a larger TV.
You can also play this game over the internet. I've raced against friends across town who also have it. Or, if none of them are on line, you can race against strangers. The game will set up matches from your region or around the world.
But what really makes this game amazing in the remote. Each copy comes with one steering wheel. That's right. Just put your regular remote in the wheel and suddenly you can steer your car. I still haven't figured out quite how they set the receiver to do that. You don't need to use the wheel, however. You can just use your remote, although it isn't nearly as much fun. Heck, you can even use your nunchuck controller if you'd like.
The graphics are quite uneven on this game. The newer levels look pretty good, but the older ones are done in the same, cheesy style. Admittedly the entire thing is rather cartoonish. But it really don't dampen my enjoyment in the slightest.
Overall, this is a fun game that I know I will be playing for a long time to come.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Mario kart game since Mario Kart 64! Comment: It took me AGES to find this game, because it was sold out in almost every gamestore I went to! Luckily one day, someone JUST brought in a box full of them, so I quickly bought it and played it at home.
This game is a HUGE improvement over Double Dash!! in my opinion. There's a HUGE roster of characters (the main screen uses some of their previous model poses from Double Dash!! though), there are more tracks to choose from and there's some great online wifi multiplayer too! The Wii wheel, the peripheral that comes with this game works like a charm, but you can play with the GCN controller if you want, and others.
The only downsides to this game are that it isn't exactly easy, the graphics are alright but definitely not as amazing as Galaxy's, and the Time Trial missions are VERY hard.Oh, and not to forget they have toned down Balloon Battle drastically.
But don't let that put you off! By all means this is the best racer you can get on the Wii, so I definitely recommend it. ^^
Customer Rating: Summary: I don't like it.. Comment: After all the press attention this game is getting, I did finally decide to buy it.
Unfortunately I was completely underwhelmed. I have never played any of the previous mario kart games so I can't judge if its a vast improvement, but I have to say the graphics are very poor, as is the general presentation.
Undeniably it is quite good fun when your playing 4-player sessions, but I have no idea how to play online!! If any one can help me in doing so I would be grateful, as i'm sure that would be quite fun.
Overall, I find the game to be overrated and no good for just the 1 player. Don't know what all the hype was for, to be honest.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best car game for the Wii Comment: This has to be (as my review title says) the best car game for the Wii. It is brilliant fun and I haven't been able to pull myself away from it since I received it yesterday. It was certainly worth waiting for it to come back into stock!
The grpahics are very good and there are lots of characters, cars, motorbikes and tracks to choose from. You can also play against a maximum of 3 other players in the multiplayer mode or connect to the internet and play with others from across the globe.
I would highly recommend this game as one to add to your Wii collection - it is worth the money!
Customer Rating: Summary: A must buy for the wii Comment: 5 Star. This game is simply brilliant.
ONline, it works with no lag. you can play your friends or 12 strangers. You play for points in each race, so it keeps you wanting to race again and again to better your online score.
Also, another great point about online play is that two of you can play at once from the same machine. In most games, only you can play online from your own console.
Single player, it's geat. Loads of courses to do etc. Loads of characters to unlock. you can also compare time trial results with your friends and anyone from around the globe. It's amazing. you can also race against ghosts from strangers. you can send your ghosts of your best times to your friends and when they beat you, then send them back for you to beat.
The wheel....actually works! I assumed I would need to use the gamecube controller to control it properly and accurately enough to get the best results, but not true. The wheel works and makes it even more enjoyable.
I always found the original snes mariokart to be the best version. Finally, I believe this is the best. I think it has changed so much since the classic snes version, that it is now a whole different game.
everyone should get this game I think. I don't know what it is about mario kart but it truely is so so addictive.
I can't think of any bad points about this gaame. I suppose they could have included every single track ever made. I'm sure they have enough space to do that. Maybe they could bring out a package that people could download. I'd love to play ALL the tracks

Take your place on the starting grid and prepare for high-speed racing action in Mario Kart Wii. Use the Wii Wheel (included) to steer your way round 32 tracks and race against friends to see who is king of the road! You can slow down the opposition or give yourself a handy speed boost by using a variety of helpful items, or pull off spectacular stunts on your way to the finish line. There's even the option of mixing with Mario and co. by racing as your Mii. Get in gear and join a race that everyone can enjoy!
