Customer Rating: Summary: These are still not fixed Comment: I have bought the new Xbox 360 arcade with the improved Falcon chipset with HDMI output looking for a more reliable console than the previous versions of the Xbox 360, and with gentle care and loads of ventilation it breaks down after 5 months of really not alot of gaming, Mine wont load any Xbox 360 games now from a CD, All it now says is Open tray on the dashboad with a disc inside, i have tried all of there sugestions on there website and nothing has worked i am extremely annoyed with this being my 3rd Xbox 360. The last 2 were the original spec Xbox 360's that broke on me, Please all be aware that these are not the answer still, i won't be getting another Xbox 360 after this and i shall be selling the replacement as soon as it arrives.
Customer Rating: Summary: What can I say?! Comment: Before anyone says I am a fanboy or anything else i wanted to say something, I own a ps3 and a 360 and am happy with both, i believe they both have good points and bad and personal preference is the key.
Recently my xbox 360 had decided it hated me after 13 months and packed in.
Refused to get my console repaired, lets face it, who knows when it will go again!
Begged my partner to Order me a 360 arcade while i was at work so i could get it before the weekend :P and had it out the box and set up in 2 mins flat when it got here, the included games are pretty good considering, but buy more believe me!!! have my hard drive from my old premium but im not using it, the missus has just ordered a arcade for our son so im gonna let him have it, he plays so much more than me, shame i have to work :)!
All in all i would recommend the arcade, yes i know it doesnt have a headset, it doesnt have a hard drive and only a composite av lead, but at £160 can anyone really say your getting ripped off?
In my case the premium/elite would have been a waste, i already have a hdmi cable, I have a wireless headset and am not worried about downloading off xbox live so its the perfect console for me, even if you dont have those things for a change i agree with microsoft, just buy what you want, when you want it, when you can afford it or whatever.
Take the plunge, its worth it, and at this price you can enjoy with a no guilt, enjoy!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Serious letdown Comment: I bought a xbox 360 and rarely played it (still had protective slip over cover), not for any long periods of time, enjoyed it and found gaming online good. Then one day I started up and I saw a red light, and error e74, I tried many attempts to get the machine working, tried everything that was online, ultimately I phoned microsoft, waited for ages and was directed through procedures by the operator that I had already tried on nuerous occassions.
"excellent we now know what the problem is and for £65 we can get it repaired for you" "on yer bike" I replied, "rather expensive for a machine only just over 1 year old".
So I have given up microsoft, which I am rather miffed about because I had 10 360 games and about 10 original xbox games aswell, but for reliability is the most important factor when shelling out serious money for consoles.
So please beware, and only buy if you wish to gamble your money, I have since bought a PS3 and am totally delighted with this, it is much quieter and provides good multimedia facilities. And most games are now cross format.
Customer Rating: Summary: Arcade Comment: I have recently bought an XBOX 360 Arcade purely for the release of GTA4. I bought it as the minimum cost that would allow me to play the game I wanted. That in mind I was blown away by just how excellent the machine is. I got Halo 3 Free with my console and once I had bought my HD Cable I can clearly see what all the fuss is about. It blows away the graphics on my Wii (using component cable) and everything is just awesome. I love the wireless controller that allows you to turn the machine on and off and to navigate easily.
Watching DVD's is also simple and as the XBOX controller is wireless there is no need to buy a DVD remote.
Also the arcade games that come with the console are nothing to turn your nose up at. They are fantastically addictive with Luxor (very much like Bust-a-Move) being my personal favourite. Theres also the likes of pac-man on the disk and for some reason UNO. I dont understand the UNO inclusion its like jenga for the Wii, games like that are meant to be played with the actual cards with friends and family not on a console. Testament to how addictive some of these arcade games are is in the fact I have played arcade almost as much as Halo.
Many 'serious' gamers should steer clear of this release however as the lack of a hard-drive means you have much more limited functionality when compared to the full XBOX 360. Still for people like me who are buying the XBOX to play a few games and who do not need alot of storage or intend to download games through XBOX live the 360 Arcade should have you covered. The best priced new XBOX going should meet most peoples requirements.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good for kids... Comment: First of all Microsoft have only released 2 games consoles the Xbox 360 being their second.
Secondly there are only 3 versions of the Xbox 360 on the market:
Xbox 360 Arcade (formerly known as the CORE pack)
Xbox 360 Premium
Xbox 360 Elite
The old CORE had a WIRED controller NO memory card and NO arcade games this one comes with the WIRELESS CONTROLLER, 256mb memory card and arcade games.
ALL Xbox 360's now have a HDMI output including this model however does NOT come with HDMI cables or component cables.
The reason for the 3 rating is that well its a CORE, its has no hard drive meaning if you want to go online you will need a hard drive in order to download the vast amount of content available.
Some games also need a hard drive but from what I know that includes maybe 5 games at max but the hard drive helps with caching so it allows the games load a bit quicker.
The Core also has no chrome tray, now if you are not bothered then fine.
If you can stretch to the PREMIUM model I would say go for that, but if you are not planning on going online (which means you will miss out on game updates as well also maybe content for your games and console updates) then stick with the CORE - you can still go online with it with the memory card so you can grab your console and game updates and play with people online but the hard drive is a must as you will be missing out on the full capabilities of the Xbox 360.
I own an Xbox 360 Elite and for the £299.99 basically a £100 more you get a whoppping 120gb hard drive, all the cables you need for HD gaming and a black headset.
