Customer Rating: Summary: Small, portable and 300+ gigs of space Comment: Been using it for a few days without any problems. I've been able to back-up my music collection of thousands of songs as well as the 1000s of photos and movie clips. Including large files of high quality scans of very old family photos.
Although it is for back-up, I can take it with me (I have another older 320 gig drive too - back-up of the back-up) and listen to any song or show any photo with very little hassle.
It's light too so, my baggage allowance is'nt affected by the heavy 3.5 drives of old.
Just one cable! The magic of modern tech means no more tangles of power and usb cables. It comes with a short usb cable that also powers the drive. Works with my desktop and UMPC.
Customer Rating: Summary: SUPER LITTLE GIZMO Comment: Excellent device in its mysterious plain black slim case. How does it work? Very well, but with one word of warning - the USB cable that comes with it seems to be the maximum length - if your USB ports are at the back of your desktop (and at the bottom if it's a tower) XP might not recognise it and starts the new hardware wizard which looks for a non-existent driver. Really needs a longer cable for desktops, since USB extender cables and powered USB hubs don't seem to do the trick. Still a great gizmo!
Customer Rating: Summary: It's quick, it's pretty and featherlight Comment: Nice little drive. Faster than I expected. It's so light that I wonder how it will cope with being lugged around the globe.
Pretty little thing too.
Be warned, that some laptops (older Powerbooks spring to mind) don't have enough power to run the WD using only their single USB port.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very useful capacity upgrade Comment: Just got one this morning - and already filling it up. I've have the 160GB version and have had a couple of plain Passport v1s before that - so I know what I'm getting in to. And have had no reliability problems nor needed a double headed usb cable for lack of power - possibly luck, but I'm happy.
320GB (actually "barely" 300GB - as is the usual way HD capacity is listed) from a small usb HD is amazing. The 250GB Passport v2 might be more of a bargain, but the more capacity the better imo.
