Customer Rating: Summary: Top camera for Top price Comment: I purchased this camera a few weeks ago, Its very easy to use, it also has a switch for nightshot mode which allows one to capture whats going on in the dark. The 800,000 pixel resolution is equivelent to the quality of standard dv cameras. Which is pretty good. If you don't want to spend too much on a camera this is the one you should go for. Another feature i like is that you can drag and drop the mpeg movie files from the camera to your pc, the camera registers as an external hard drive. Ive given top marks because of ease of use, quality and price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Little Camera Comment: I bought this camcorder for my birthday and, for the price found it very easy to use. Downloading the images is simple using the Sony software included. The VGA camera provides basic low res pictures, but its a camcorder not a camera. Light weigh and very easy to use. Turn on, point and record.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overpriced, compared to similar Sony models. Comment: I don't understand this model. I bought the Sony DCR-SR62 model, which is basically the same as this one (30Gb hard disc, touch-screen display, 25x optical zoom, etc) but it has a 1Mp resolution.
Why is this DCR-SR35E a poorer model, but more expensive ?!
Shop around. You can find better, and will appreciate going for a camcorder with a better resolution than 800K.
Other than that, they're excellent camcorders, no regrets in my purchase.

Sony presents the successor to the highly acclaimed DCR-SR32: the DCR-SR35! This hard drive camcorder builds on the features of its predecessor with a much larger 2.7? touch screen. Instead of recording to DVD or miniDV discs, the DCR-SR35 saves up to 20 hours of video footage straight to its 30 GB hard drive, and it comes with an 800,000-pixel CCD sensor, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and an optical stabiliser, ensuring you get sensational quality images each and every time. In addition to its many other modes and settings, the DCR-SR35 has a host of shooting functions that will help you obtain great results just like a pro. These include white balance, backlight correction, faders, scene backgrounds and special effects. You can manually adjust exposure with spot focusing and spot metering on its clever touch screen, and hook up your computer for transferring short films via its USB 2.0 port. The DCR-SR35 is also shock resistant, making it one of the sturdiest family camcorders on the market.
