Customer Rating: Summary: Great TV! Comment: Like many here I researched TVs for a while and settled on this one because it seemed to be great value for money (under 500 on Amazon when I bought it) and had good reviews, and I couldn't be happier with it! I had the stand on it and got it setup in 5 mins. The picture is great, and I think the sound is pretty good considering they are just built in speakers. The visual quality when connected to my xbox 360 via HDMI is outstanding!
I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a great value 1080p TV!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good value for money. Comment: Bought this as a gift for my parents to replace their CRT TV. Very good picture with plenty of options to adjust to your preference. Plugged strait into the existing Sony home cinema system DVD recorder and Sky+ with no hassle and the self set-up is a breeze. Now for the useful hints.
1. If you are not sure if this will be too big/small for your room, the dimensions are approx. 900mm x 640mm (that's 36" x 26" ish for us none metric types :o) with the stand fitted.
2. It can be set up by one person, but it is easier (and safer) to get it out the box with 2 people. Handle it by the edges as the screen is not as tough as a glass screen.
3. Clear a dining table and put a bath towel on it. This makes fitting the stand far easier.
4. The set comes with no connecting cables (other than power), so you need to have either scart leads (or HDMI leads for connection to HD equipment).
5. Amazon's express delivery is good value and VERY snappy, i.e. when they say before 1pm delivery next day, they mean it.
Why only 4 stars? I had to send the first one back due to a screen fault that, judging by the lack of damage to the packaging, should have been picked up at the factory. Amazon had no issue replacing the unit, though the on-line return form was a little vague. Also, the replacement came by standard delivery (6 days) which kind of defeats the object of paying for express delivery in the first place (hint, hint Amazon).
Customer Rating: Summary: Dam this is good. Comment: This tv is outstanding. Theres loads of reviews stating how good it is. So i'll just do the pros and cons.
Pros:
1. It sets itself up at the push of a button (for Digital anyway) you may have to move some channels about for analogue but its very easy.
2. Pictures great for both tv and dvd. Dont just use the out of the box settings as with a bit of messing around you can get a way better picture (theres settings advice in the Customer Discussions below. I found these very helpful.
3. Some say the sounds not great. I have it in a small room and I think it does a good job and fills the room (again with the settings tweeked) 4. PS3 looks amazing (even with a cheap HDMI lead) I really do mean jaw dropping amazing. Games look great and Dark Knight (on Blue Ray)is fantastic.
Cons: 1. Some ghosting on some DVD's. This seems only to be on old TV series dvds (Darkplace and Snuff Box ect) there was a fair bit of ghosting and colours (mainly green) flashing up. This could be to do with the quality of the dvd/program recording or the fact that I'm using a cheap scart lead. The fact is it shows the faults (Batman Begings in standard def looks outstanding). As I have a lot of old tv shows on dvd its something I want to sort out. 2 Remote is a little slow to respond
Understand that I'm nit picking with the Cons as the TV is great overall. Well worth the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: So good I bought two! Comment: So you are considering buying a flatscreen LCD TV. You are sitting at you computer reading all these fabulous reviews, asking yourself "Is this Toshiba TV that good considering the price?". Well let me tell you, without any hesitation the answer is definitely "YES!". I've been round friends' houses and have never been that thrilled with the picture quality from their flat screen TVs. I consider myself fairly fussy about the quality I want from a TV and therefore was apprehensive buying one on-line! I needn't have worried. Unpacking it, fitting the stand and setting it up was a doddle. It scanned and set-up all the digital channels automatically. I then sat back in the chair and channel hopped through the channels. Soon I had a big grin on my face and I knew I had made the right choice.
The smile on my face got even bigger when I connected my xBox360 elite through the HDMI connection... WOW! Sound is superb as well.
My girlfriends' son was also considering buying a flat screen TV for his bedroom. He took one look at the Toshiba and said "Can you order me one?". So now we have two!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic TV. Quality Service Comment: I purchased this TV [ASIN:B00179SI3E Toshiba 37XV555DB - 37" Widescreen 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With Freeview]] after the usual researching of different makes and models and can honestly say this is an awesome set. The picture quality on both the Digital and Analogue settings is superb and the unit looks stylish with its black gloss finish. A absolute doddle to set up. I doubt there is a better set on sale for the same price. Outstanding.
My only advice is to check with the actual courier company when tracking the package as Amazon's date was wrong and i could have had a wasted day waiting in
