Summary: Great TV
Comment: I was looking to get a new television for our living room and most recently had a 37 inch Toshiba HD Ready LCD which I was happy with however the black levels weren't that great. So I searched for a new TV, I wanted 1080p given my old model didn't have it and I wanted LCD as I game a lot and I wanted a decent price.

I had a family friend who'd commented the 'WHICH' review said the V series weren't that good, and I also saw the 2 star comment from another reviewer in Amazon. My opinion (and let it be seen as only that) is that the HDMI had no pausing disadvantages, and as yet I have had no issues with the television. I did however notice the exact same message given for the 2 star review was also pasted on other sites also. So I would say to any future buyer, please ignore the 2 star reveiw as I have not encountered any such issues.

As noted however, please see that What-Hifi gave it 2 awards and also hdtvtest gave it a good review also. I did get mine from John Lewis for 499 delivered with a 5 year warrantee, so I believe thus far it has been a great investment and I'm loving using it for all it's uses: Wii, 360 or PS3 play, blu-ray and HDTV also using a V+ box. I particularly like seeing the gleams in peoples eyes taht I couldn't see before.

Happy shopping from a happy shopper!

Summary: Fantastic quality for the money
Comment: I spent many hours trawling reviews and websites looking for a high spec tv to replace my 32" basic model. I am not very technically minded and just knew that the important things to look for were Full HD 1080p and a decent contrast ratio, which at 33,000:1 is way beyond what is offered elsewhere. With the Sony reputation for quality it didn't take long for me to place my order.

Arriving within 3 days I was bowled over by the ease at which I was able to set everything up. The various connections are really conviniently located towards the one end and not in hard to reach spots, with one HDMI located on the side - very handy for quick access. There's also a nifty little cabe tidy built in to the stand which is welcome little bonus.

The picture quality is fantastic and really is worth upgrading for. The sound is top notch too and the remote is well thought out so minor personal adjustments are very easy to carry out. If you anything like me and rarely read the instruction manuals the simplicity of the controls for this are perfect for you.

I love it so much, I almost want to buy another one!

Summary: Absolutely stunning viewing experience
Comment: This arrived today and took less than 2 minutes to set up from switch-on and the results are amazing. I would suggest not choosing the Shop setting as this over-enhances the picture for normal viewing. As an ex-TV engineer I am VERY fussy about the quality of picture on any TV I own and this was flawless stright from the box. I cannot rate it highly enough.

Summary: KDL40v4000
Comment: I bought one of these to replace my old Panasonic CRT, along with a Blu Ray player. So far I've been impressed, standard Sky broadcasts are pretty good although the quality of older programmes does show up. Dvd's on the blu ray player are very impressive, but when you play a blu ray disc- the pictures are truly outstanding. I thought it was all a bit of a gimmick, but it was on offer for £99 with the Tv so chanced my luck. I'm glad I did. Together with the tv and a surround sound set up, it is very very good indeed. Well worth the money and highly recommended.

Editorial Reviews:

Sony proudly presents a TV that is like no other - it?s the latest addition to its BRAVIA range; the KDL-40V4000E. The KDL-40V4000E has a wide array of great features to ensure spectacular image quality. These include a new BRAVIA Engine 2 digital processor and Full HD technology, as well as an incredible dynamic contrast rate of 33,000:1, which displays breath-taking colours and intense black tones on its 40-inch panel. The KDL-40V4000E?s automatic image brightness control adjusts to suit ambient lighting conditions, reducing the power consumption of the TV while maintaining visual comfort. The KDL-40V4000E also has three HDMI sockets and two 10W speakers, as well as BBE Viva Digital and Virtual Dolby Surround sound systems, so graphics and music are of the same quality, and it's equipped with a BRAVIA Sync function that allows you to control all connected audio and video devices from your TV.
