Summary: Canon PowerShot 870IS
Comment: The Canon PowerShot 870IS is my 3rd Canon PowerShot camera within 5 years. It is by far the best Canon camera that I have ever owned. This 8 megapixel camera delivers excellent photos and features for it's small size. After extensive research, I was thoroughly impressed with every feature, including the battery life (1 week on a single charge). The only feature that is missing from this camera (which I do not need anyway) is an optical view finder. The large LCD back screen is the only available view finder for this camera.

Summary: sorry i bought it
Comment: Always have had a cannon and was excited to get this one. Was a mistake as my old canon power shot took a much better picture. I also gave it away and can't get it back now I am stuck with this one.

Summary: could do better
Comment: When downloaded to the computer the pictures look nice. When the pictures are printed they are not sharp. I print better pictures with my kodak easyshare camera I bought almost 5 years ago

Summary: Best camera in its class
Comment: First of all, this is the first review I've written for any product. I thought that this camera is so great that I needed to write this.

I did a lot of research before buying this camera. Read about 25 reviews about this camera and the competitors. This is by far the best camera in its class. I was very close to get the Lumix with 10x optical zoom, but I am glad I didn't. The 3 inch LCD screen is gorgeous. It works perfectly fine with little light and with direct sun light as well. I don't miss the optical viewfinder at all. I've tried the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS and the ViewFinder is useless, that is why I decided for this one.

Regarding the quality of the pictures, it is amazingly good. Even in indoor, low-light situations, you don't get blurred images, just with a little noise, that is expected.

I don't usually use a point-and-shoot camera to take videos, but I tried the video in this PowerShow and it is amazing. I have a Samsung Camcorder and I am planning on selling it and get a bigger memory card for my Canon Powershot!

Overall, this is a great camera. All you need and much more in a point-and-shoot. 100% recommended.

Summary: Not perfect, but still a great little camera
Comment: Picked this camera after reading tons of reviews. Main criteria, though, was the large, clear LCD screen.

There are lots of setting you can tweak on this, but the main ones I use are the ISO settings. Although this camera has anti-blur, I find that you still need to set the ISO higher manually in many instances to get the best results - that is, without using the flash, which I hate (in all cameras of this type). I wish Canon had done a better job of that.

Once you've got the setting you want, it takes great pictures. The menus and settings are easy enough to use (if you know what they all mean). Note that you cannot use the zoom while in video mode.

Editorial Reviews:

From the very first glance, the smooth shape and bold lines of the stylish PowerShot SD870IS Digital ELPH signal that this is no ordinary camera. With 8.0 megapixels of resolution, an Optical Image Stabilizer, and 3.8x optical zooming, the SD870IS Digital ELPH boasts impressive specs as well as a host of convenience features. Face Detection Technology for worry-free people shots. A large 3.0-inch LCD to give you a perfect view of your scene. The Auto ISO Shift and ISO 1600 deliver brilliant images in challenging lighting.
