Summary: Hot off the printer!!!
Comment: Have always been happy with HP products and this printer is no exception. Though delivery was a bit slow, overall I am pleased with this purchase.

Summary: Great little printer
Comment: This really is a great little printer. I moved from an all-in-one canon MP170 to this printer to free up valuable desktop space, and I find that when printing photos on glossy stock the color representation is better on this HP than on the more expensive Canon MP170. The paper feed path is part of what saves space here, both in height and depth. I don't need 18" of overhead space to feed the paper since it lays flat in front of the printer, and when the paper tray is folded up it only takes up 9" of depth on my desk. Yes, it feeds the printed page out over the storage tray, but...I don't find this to be a problem at all. I was expecting to have to buy a separate dye-sub printer for photos, but so far the print quality is good enough that I'm putting that on hold. For the money, this is a good deal for the home user.

Summary: design fault
Comment: I bought the printer on the strength of a NY Times glowing price to value review, obviously, the reviewer had never used it. The paper feed and the paper exit overlap and the pages are spewed onto the floor as in an old man vs. machine Laurel & Hardy movie.
The second problem was, when trying to determine if I was using it properly or if a part(tray) was missing I had to deal w/ HP's on line service rep. whose innate politeness - 'I am your servant' - indicated he was off shore, couldn't help me because try as he might he didn't get the problem. Perhaps the floor in his part of the world is closer to the desk top.
Anyway, HP's attitude seems to be, what do you expect for fifty bucks, it's fine for single page printing and not anything more than four. rrt
