Summary: Beautiful picture, elegant design.
Comment: I researched LCD's till my mind felt like scrambled eggs. I assume, like most other people, the decision came down to Sony or Samsung. I wanted to spend around $1500 for a 46 inch. After much deliberation and physically checking out the TV's at Best Buy, i went with the Sony for the following reasons:

Picture: The Sony screen is less reflective than the Samsung, providing a picture that i feel is easier on the eyes. The Sony also has very deep blacks, which makes the image look fantastic. I have to say that i also think the Samsung has a great picture, i just prefer Sony's.

Sound: The Samsung down firing speakers sound terrible and muffled, and although many people will hook their TV's up to a sound system, this bugged me. The Sony built in speakers sound great.

Design: To me, Samsung TV's look cheap and plastic. And i don't like "The Touch of Red." I think it looks cheesy and eighties. Although there is plastic border around the Sony, its industrial design is clean and elegant, and doesn't stand out.

Remote: The Samsung remote is an eyesore, and not easy to use. The Sony remote on the other hand looks slick, is simple to use, and fits properly in my hand.

Both companies make great products, it's really just a matter of personal taste. Mine happened to lean toward Sony.

Hope this helps you :)

Summary: Never received this product.
Comment: I actually canceled this order in favor of a Panasonic plasma TH-46PZ85U.

This TV was one of the best I've seen in the stores, but I wanted a plasma for better fast-action displays.

I've come to conclude that even with plasma there is some blur because there is blur in the broadcast of most channels. ESPN, ABC, CBS, etc all have blur. This is due to the camera focus, camera motion, and even MPEG compression of the signal.

So don't shy away from an LCD, especially with 120Hz refresh. Just make sure you check it out in a local store - let your eyes be the judge.

Summary: Samsung 46 inch is much better
Comment: We purchased a Samsung 46L650 from amazon but due to the $ 200 cash rebate issue (they promised cash rebate which turned out to be a sport memoribilia rebate) we returned it and got this sony instead. Since we got chance to view both samsung and sony, I can see definitely that Samsung screen looks much wider and bigger as compared to sony. The picture quality was also better with samsung plus they are cheaper too. One good feature of Sony was that you get good sound system but overall samsung wins in the looks. Also make sure you buy a power surge protector with such big ticket items. Trust me its worth the extra cost.

Hope this helps!

Summary: LOVE IT
Comment: I owned a plasma for 4 years (zenith 42" edtv) and I loved it... looked great, sounded great, etc. I tried for the past couple of years to upgrade to full hd to no avail. I tried a 50" samsung (terrible color, horrific sound) and a 50" philips (decent, but not "great"). This sony BLEW MY MIND. Great picture, great sound, great build quality. You can't go wrong. JUST BUY IT
