Customer Rating: Summary: Ups and downs, but good fun overall Comment: As a long-time Guitar Hero fan who played my fingers raw on GH3 and lately has been reluctantly pulled into Rock Band, I had high hopes for Guitar Hero World Tour. And while World Tour has its share of frustrations (bad placement of the shared star power bars, not to mention impossibly picky vocals scoring, and poor drumset durability...), it succeeds in pulling together a fun and varied setlist, as well as adding some gameplay improvements as well - for example, the new empty note adds a welcome bit of challenge to playing bass.
Overall, I think World Tour's greatest achievement is that the new features and instruments makes the game more interesting and accessible to beginners and casual players, as well as extending the experience for more seasoned players.
As far as the Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band dilemma goes, personally I find guitar/bass much more fun and with more interesting parts on Guitar Hero (naturally) whereas Rock Band provides a better drum vocals experience. Both are good games that are worth owning, though buyers should beware that there is a significant overlap in songs between GHWT and RB2.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another excellent edition of the Guitar Hero Comment: Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3IM5I6DIINI8E Hey man, rather than give an entire speech about how much fun Guitar Hero World Tour is. Here I am jamming to Uncle Ted's Strangle Hold. As you can see, it's a lot of fun and I'm totally digging the experience man. I thank God for games like Guitar Hero World Tour. Thanks God! (Spoken while pointing both index fingers toward the Heavens!)
Customer Rating: Summary: Teens are Happy Comment: I bought two of these games.....one for my son and one for his friend. They are both 14/15 and are very difficult to buy for. They loved this version of guitar hero and it is very funny to see them rock away at tunes that are almost as old as their parents!
Customer Rating: Summary: Guitar Hero IS BETTER THAN rock band 1 or 2 Comment: I have played rock band and am impressed but when guitar hero 4 came out i was blown away. I have loved guitar hero for a long time the guitar is much more challeging making for a much more fun game than rock band. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you heard of rock band being able to do that at all? I thought not. plus the songs are waaay better even if some are live. as a veteran of both i recommend guitar hero ALWAYS over rock band.
Customer Rating: Summary: Guitar Band 4 Comment: Lame. This is coming from someone with the last 5 Guitar Hero games.
They ruined the franchise with trying to copy rock band. It's called GUITAR hero for a reason, not guitar band, GH4 has a lame, sold out soundtrack (beastie boys, michael jackson, wtf??) and if your like me and just have the guitars, be prepared for the same boring repetative riffs like rock band had. and long breaks in some songs where there is long breaks were a drum solo or something would be. Don't expect to get many xbox achievements either unless your playing w/ all the instruments either. So much for being GUITAR hero. Minus one loyal customer.
I also own the original rock band, and although I didn't care for it too much, id much rather get RB2 than the cheap imitation that is GH4.
