Summary: Customer service is dreadful
Comment: My graphics card on the m9340f has been making noise since shortly after I bought it and HP is still giving me the run-around. This is an otherwise great machine, but I would not recommend buying one, or buying from HP, because I have yet to get this problem solved.

Summary: Great computer ... but with issues
Comment: The computer is fast, and has all the features i could ever want .. BUT
we noticed that a squeaking/rattling noise would come from the CPU after starting it when the computer was cold. After about 15 seconds, the noise would stop. Two weeks later, the noise would last about 30 seconds and stop.

Called customer support who walked me through the process of taking out the memory cards and clicking them back in. Didn't help. Called them several times. I determined that the noise was coming from a fan on a card. They told me the only way to fix the computer was to send it in. I sent it in for repair.

Besides the noise, the computer has been great. However, it is a big inconvenience to have to send the computer in and wait (2-3 weeks?). Glad I have a laptop as backup.

Would recommend Dell. They'll send someone to your home to repair the computer.

Summary: Great specs + cheap price = questionable quality
Comment: Great bang for the buck. It it has great specifications for the price. But I think quality might be questionable.

The power supply went bad after one month. The replacement power supply went bad a month later. The noise from the 2nd bad power supply was masking the noise from the bad video card. When the field rep replaced the power supply, we found that the fan on the video card had also gone bad. I would factor in the additional cost of an extended warranty when making price comparisons.

Luckily I had purchased the extended on-site warranty. The on-site warranty prevented me from hauling the pc to a shop or mailing it to HP. Let me say this about the on-site extended warranty; diagnostic service is not on-site. Diagnostic service is performed by you talking to a support rep over the phone. Even if you purchased the on-site warranty, HP can still require the end user (you) to replace parts. So, If you are afraid or don't want to open up the PC, you might want to avoid HP. I'm not sure if that is common for other PC makers or not.

I do a lot of photo editing, some video editing and it handles these tasks with no problem. I really do like this PC. Big hard drive, big memory, good cpu. I hope I'm past the quality problems.

Also, CISCO dosen't yet make a VPN client for the 64 bit VISTA operating systems.

Summary: Exactly what I expected
Comment: When deciding which PC to purchase, I spent about 6 hours doing research. I compared Dell, Sony and HP. This model, in it's current configuration, was the best deal out of them all, although you could probably get it for less now (better deal). I was originally apprehensive about getting a 64 bit processor and Vista (for obvious reasons). While there were problems with some peripherals (web cam and scanner will not be supported), there were more positive things and some surprises. I have been using Vista at work for about one year, but not in a "personal" capacity. Now that I have it at home, there are many more things that are easier to do in Vista, once you break away from the XP mindset. I had been very resistant to working with Vista and I am looking forward to Windows 7. This PC is very, very fast and has all of the media connections I required. I also got the HP 22" wide flat panel LCD monitor and it looks absolutely great. I am pleasantly suprised with this system.

Summary: Lots Of Horsepower
Comment: I recently purchased this HP after my little older than a year PC decided to start crashing repeatedly,I was a little leary of the 64bit system working with all my hardware and software but gladly I have not had 1 problem with anything.I read a few other reviews on this model and some griped about poor video performance, some griped about bad software performance, but I have had nothing but praise for this PC,out of the box it is a solid 5.4 on the experience scale with the gaming graphics being the culprit to bring it down.I went to AMD Game and ran their can you run it program and let it tell me if I could play upper end games,it rated as completely passing on Crysis.I think that is pretty speedy. What more can a person ask for that only uses it for pictures and music. The TV tuner works great in Windows Media Center,I can actually watch 5 HD channels off air with no problems. The built in wireless card saw my network immediately and let me connect without a problem. It has a lot of features that you think would cost a lot more than it does, the HP remote even works great. So far I cant complain about anything. It all just works.
