Summary: best picture besides a plasma
Comment: I am ready to pull the trigger on this one as I have been standing in BB too long and checking this LCD out against the other brands. I care less about the remote problems as this will hang on a bedroom wall.

Comment: Possibly the best quality 52" LCD flat screen on the market for the price. Delivery was fast and courteous. Out of box setup was easy with plug and play. Using Direct/TV with the HD channels, the picutre quality is superior, and with Blueray, it is crystal clear. If you don't want to go to the theater, this is the next best thing. Coming from a 50" Samsung DLP to this has been a lot of fun.

Summary: I love it!
Comment: The 850 is my second Samsung HDTV, and I'm really glad I chose it over something from the XBR range. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the 120Hz refresh rate really does make a difference. I played around with the refresh settings to see if there was any noticeable video noise when it was set to maximum. Despite hearing that this was a problem, I didn't notice any noise at all.

Playing Blu-ray discs produces almost unbelievably clear images. I put The Fifth Element on and it really did look like a whole different film than what I remembered. PS3 games look really great too.

The built-in speakers are not as bad as some people are making them out to be, but they could be better. Playing around with the equalizer helps tremendously. I sourced my sound through a home theater system and I suspect most people who buy the 850 will be doing the same, so this complaint is probably minor. It's a fantastic set and a good value for the performance.

Summary: Clear vision HDTV which makes you see RED
Comment: Samsung LN52A850 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color

This has to be one of the best buys of the season. The TV is HUGE and so thin for something so big. The screen is clear beyond imagination, especially watching HD channels on cable is a joy. The 120Hz refresh rate means that there is NO blurring with rapidly moving scenes, such as during football games, or watching the BBC's 'Planet Earth' large animal movement scenes.
The surround has a touch of RED to it, which is not significant to affect your decor, but is just about visible when the sun is shining on the TV

Downsides - well, the chimes it makes on start up and shut down, and the fact that the IR gets confused when the morning sun strikes the TV frames and renders the remote useless. However, even in bright sun, this TV shines and the image remains clear and bright.

Summary: Completely Blown Away
Comment: Like many, I've done a lot of research and shopping around for LCDs. For me it came down to the Samsung 850 and the Sony XBR6. What did it for me however was the vast number of available feature on the Samsung and seeing them side by side in local retail store, the picture quality on the Samsung seemed more natural and rich.

So I purchased this TV the day after Christmas and it arrived to Pilot Shipping's local distibution center on New Years Eve. Being the impatient person that I am I opted to go and pick it up with a friend instead of having them deliver it which was another 3 days away.

It took me about 45 minutes to remove my old TV and re-cable my home theatre system, but once done, I have to admit that I was blown away by how truly exceptional this TV is. My girlfriend and I joke all the time that everything you watch looks like a reality show because of how crisp and clear the picture truly is. The Anynet+ feature is really a bonus too since I have a Samsung receiver. One remote controller does infact control your entire theatre system.

There was one hiccup though. During my research I had read posts about "white clouds" and this was quite noticible and distracting when viewing dark scenes. So why still a 5 star rating you ask? Well I proceeded to contact Samsung customer service and was very pleased by how prompt they were in trying to schedule a technician out to take a look at the TV. I've been out of town due to the holidays so I haven't scheduled a date for the technician as yet but I'll be sure to follow up to let you know how that whole process went.

Customer service was one of my biggest concerns as I had also heard that Samsung did not provide timely or prompt service. This doesn't look to be the case.

There is nothing to second guess about this product! It's worth the price and you won't have buyers remorse.
