Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: The latest SpongeBob SquarePants game is a dream, at least in terms of plot, as SponeBob, Patrick and Plankton imagine themselves both saving and taking over the world in a series of bizarre B-movie themed levels. The lowdown: It would seem the nights in Bikini Bottom are as strange as the days as you get to experience the nocturnal fantasies of the heroes and villains from the show. This is basically an excuse for a series of mini-games that range from on-the-rails shoot 'em-ups to flying games and beat 'em-ups. Each controls in a different way, with Patrick's fantasy of the rocket propelled Starfishman and SpongeBob's escape from a giant sized Plankton. SpongeBob also, finally, gets to indulge his fantasy of driving a car in a stylised hot rod race, complete with psychedelic '60s graphics. In fact all of the levels have their own unique style from the '50s pop art of Patrick's Sci-Fi levels to the purposefully fake looking buildings for Plankton to stomp. It's indicative of a surprising amount of effort for what initially seems a simple licensed cash-in. Most exciting moment: As well as trying to escape from a Godzilla sized Plankton in one of SpongeBob's levels you also get to play as the cyclopean scoundrel in one of the game's best levels. Here the only objective is to smash everything in your past and finally allow Plankton to win - in his dreams at least. Since you ask: The only confirmed playable characters so far are SpongeBob himself, Patrick the starfish and the evil megalomaniac Plankton. Lots more are expected to be unlocked in the final game though. The bottom line: SpongeBob's new game is a dream in concept, and not bad in practise either.-HARRISON DENT

| Customer Reviews: Excellent stuff - just loads of fun June 30, 2007 K. F. Baker (Bristol, England) 38 out of 42 found this review helpful
I bought this game because I watch the cartoon with a friend, and I was interested to know how a gamer would interact with it from a Wii perspective as it's my first proper game (not Wii Sports or Wii Play).
I wasn't disappointed. The menu is simple - you can go through the game first a Sponge Bob then as Patrick etc, pick out the best challenges, play in a band if you want to take time out from gaming or try bonus tasks if you pick up enough Z's. It's done as a kind of story with tips on how to do new things and harder challenges along the way.
Only one problem I found so far is that if you save a game then try to load it later, it won't start where you left off - it will take you to the beginning of that task (which is a little frustrating).
I imagine if you are an advanced gamer you wouldn't find this challenging but in general if you are kid to a grandparent you are going to have lots of fun and laughs with this. I really recommend it!

ha ha ha - this game a terrific, hours of fun with our favourite sponge!Good images, with challenging adventures.
Good Game April 21, 2010 A. Mcdowell (Cumbria UK) My son is currently working his way through this game, he is enjoying it but he is not as obsessed as some previous games he has had. It was a good price and there are plenty of cheat codes on the internet to keep him happy.
Spongebob.... Still great November 15, 2007 argyle1 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
For the Wii this game is great!.... It's not to hard either... There is 9 really great long levels.
FUN FOR ALL!! It has super controls! And it also has lots of mini-games. You can use cheats to Dress-Up
your characters!
Highly Recommended!!!!

Bought this game for my 6 yer old. Too hard for him to play so I play it while he watches. I am a playstation 2 Veteran so am able to find my way round most games. However even I struggled past some of the racing levels. My main problem was with the controls which were unresposive, and never done what you wanted it to do, thus crashes galore and missing checkpoints. I feel this game would be 10x better with a normal joypad controls, i.e pressing curser left and right to influence direction rather than using Wii remote as a steering wheel.
